letting go of power button when "loading startup options" appears, after which it just shuts down and enters the loop. tried the installer repair and and held it longer, since the installer instructions technically say to wait for "entering startup options", but after a bit it still rebooted and entered the loop regardless
<jcm93>
i'm on current macOS (13.3.1) in case that's relevant

my installer settings were very vanilla, no expert mode stuff. used the tool to allocate a 41 gb partition and just attempting a normal desktop install. let me know if there's any other info i can provide or debugging steps i can take!
<jcm93>
in case my other system details are relevant, it's a binned max with the 24 core gpu, and 32gb of memory. with that i'll pipe down :p

hmm, i'm now trying to nuke the partition to start the process over entirely. disk utility is reporting that the volume the installer created is "in use", however, and i can't remove the partition...

i tried to format the partition in order to remove it and now disk utility is reporting "an internal state error occurred" when trying to remove. lovely

alright, i successfully nuked everything and started over, and still encounter the boot loop. i can only assume that i am encountering the "rare issue" alluded to in the alpha blog post. i'll file an issue against the installer and see if i can find support there. i even took a video of myself restarting to show i am following instructions correctly

Anybody could boot macos 13.3.1 on m1n1?
<jannau>
gordonfreeman: yes, but probably a mix of 13.3 and 13.3.1
<gordonfreeman>
what kind of a mix
chadmed has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<_jannau_>
I think the system 13.3.1 but I'm using the 13.3 kernel with run_guest.py
<gordonfreeman>
while creating the kernelcache, did you also need to exclude lots of kexts due to dependency errors?
<_jannau_>
I use the unmodified kernelcache from the system or kdk

<gordonfreeman>
sorry I asked it wrong, I meant while running `kmutil create`
<gordonfreeman>
I also use unmodified kernelcache but like 10-15 kext dependency issues arised (like IOHIDFamily cannot found; but actually it's there for sure). So I excluded them and it built correctly but won't boot lol
