haiku-r1~beta4_hrev57086-1-x86_64.hpkg just locked up attempting to checkfs/boot. I changed to a back-up partition at hrev56750 and ran checkfs on the other partition and no errors.

The_Ringmaster: yes, totally possible. Regarding the boot loading, depends on your intended boot mode BIOS/MBR vs (U)EFI.

If using BIOS/MBR (legacy/CSM, whatever it is called on newer PCs now)... you can install the MBR boot loader code in your newly installed USB stik, by simply start "BootManager" from the Terminal app. The procedure should be straight forward enough.

you don't need to install BootManager, if you create the partition table using DriveSetup it will already set up a valid MBR for you

if using UEFI... hit the spacebar repeatedly while your PC is booting (after POST, before any icon's show up). That should work also for BIOS mode, but there, you can simply hold the SHIFT key down during boot.

Depending on the hardware, sometimes selecting "Use fail-safe graphics driver" is all what's needed. Other times, disabling SMP helps. Sometimes is disabling ACPI... hard to tell upfront.

Hello, guys. I try to run haiku on Chromebook through tianocore (EFI). It starts but keyboard doesn't work. It's a normal AT keyboard. I try to find probing code in haiku or a way to force at keyboard to load. Any pointers?

I think I found a possible culprit for keyboard problem: haiku PS2 driver doesn't drain port before resetting it. So in case of Chromebook it gets last keypresses instead of reply

@waddlesplash: other PS2 drivers do it. I think libpayload, grub2 and Linux all do it. Can I just replace some file? I'm on Linux now but mounted haiku with bfs_fuse

phcoder: you can overwrite just the haiku-...hpkg in /system/packages

but you have to be careful doing this, it can sometimes cause incorrect dependencies if versions changed, hence the pkgman method is more reliable
