chaos_princess: is it safe to drop hidpipe from the overlay now that its been subsumed by muvm?

<n3ph>
chadmed_: Not for me. As long as I haven't figured out whats wrong for me with muvm 0.1.4, I am bound to 0.1.3-r1 along with hidpipe. :-/

n3ph: so muvm-0.1.3-r1 starts steam successfully without the racey behaviour?
<chadmed_>
should be a pretty quick bisect in that case

chadmed_: will be safe once you drop 0.1.3, yes
<chadmed>
yeah im leaving it until n3ph bisects their issue
<chadmed>
dont want to explode all t600x users :p
<jannau>
muvm-0.1.4 / muvm-0.2.0 works without issues on t6002 on fedora 41
<mps_>
on kernel 6.12.4-1 X terminates in a minute-two without any info. same userspace is stable on 6.12.3-1
<jannau>
mps_: when moving the mouse cursor to right or bottom edge?
<jannau>
can you post the content of '/sys/kernel/debug/dri/soc\:display-subsystem/state' while using X? anything dcp related in the kernel log after X terminates?
chrisl has joined #asahi-alt
<mps_>
jannau: yes
<mps_>
I have to go out now, later will reboot to 6.12.4-1 and post
<mps_>
kernel log doesn't show anything suspicious

jannau: I didn't build kernel with debug enabled so I don't /sys/kernel/debug/dri/soc\:display-subsystem/state
<mps_>
now I will try to move pointer to edges and see when X terminate
<mps_>
hm, it doesn't terminate wherever I move pointer
<mps_>
I see this ' (EE) event2 - Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad: kernel bug: Touch jump detected and discarded.' in /var/log/Xorg.0.log
<mps_>
this is only I found related to pointer
<n3ph>
chadmed: now I see you already dropped muvm 0.1.3-r1 yesterday, but anyway...
<n3ph>
I found a couple of minutes, I am on it now.
<mps_>
jannau: oh, could be false alarm, maybe X termination related to mesa-asahi 20241211 (I upgraded it with kernel upgrade). Lets test for some time
<mps_>
or, it could be something with some of alpine packages and not related to anything asahi

mps_: can you reliably crash xorg by moving the cursor to the bottom/side of the screen?
<chadmed>
(this should _not_ occur on xorg since it does not know how to put cursors on overlay planes)
chrisl has joined #asahi-alt
emilia-miki has joined #asahi-alt
<mps_>
chadmed: no, moving cursor anywhere doesn't terminate X. it terminates randomly after some minutes, about 3 to 10 minutes
<mps_>
I just downgraded release and upgraded kernel to 6.12.4-1 and will test now

I wrongly 'connected' to new kernel because it started when I upgraded kernel

hope it is not hardware

For what it's worth to readers in this channel: I was able to "prevent" the race by unsetting LANG. Unsure why this is a trigger at all ATM.
