I have kernel-devel kernel-headers installed but I dont find a build directory in the kernel directory? I find a file named build that seems to show up as some kind of broken symlink?
verlio has joined #asahi-dev
<cy8aer>
Seti_: as I know from debian there are global kernel-headers and kernel-headers for the kernel version. This may be on your distribution the same. So then: Did you install both?
verlio has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<Seti_>
cy8aer: Im on fedora and cant seemt to find a reference to global kerne-headers, when trying to install kernel-devel again I see a wall of error messages about conflicts spitting out but now I realised I should probably update my system woops
<j`ey>
Seti_: you need kernel-16k-headers
<Seti_>
j`ey: I see! Thank you that seems to be the issue, I misread the log, I thought kernel-devel was installed but that my system was just outdated

hey guys! curious if anyone has attempted to port the ambient light sensor and true tone to asahi. i couldn't find much on the wiki
<chaos_princess>
hi
<chaos_princess>
it kinda works, there is an annoying issue involving fetching the calibration blob from where macos stores it and passing it to linux
<chaos_princess>
also literally nothing cares about the ambient light colour on linux, from what i saw there is like one driver that can even report it
<cherryman>
any way i can read more about this / help out? i'm interested in getting true tone-like functionality in linux and wanna poke around the project a bit
<fl0_id>
chaos_princess what is it even supposed to be doing on macos
<chaos_princess>
screw with the screen colours in order to compensate for ambient lighting conditions
<chaos_princess>
(in case it wasn't obvious, i do not like this feature and always turn it off)

chaos_princess ah that. I do have it turned on and before it existed, I sometimes was using stuff like f.lux. so if you wanted that on linux, a less fancy version would be to install f.lux or another foss alternative (though it just goes by time and location iirc, more about reducing blue light at night, less about "true colors")
kaazoo has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
<chaos_princess>
f.lux
<chaos_princess>
's macos equivalent is night shift, not true tone
<fl0_id>
chaos_princess ah ok, somehow I thought that was similar
<chaos_princess>
those are two separate features, both are screwing with display colour, but for different purposes, and in response to different triggers
<fl0_id>
chaos_princess got it
<nicolas17>
this reminded me of a meme but I couldn't find it
<nicolas17>
so I just lazily and imperfectly recreated it
