<barni2000[m]>
why preemption is enabled for gpu :(
<barni2000[m]>
i have not cherry-picked the "fixes" from msm8953
<barni2000[m]>
the gpu issues was caused by the missing preemption fixes so firmware-qcom-adreno-a530 is fine
<barni2000[m]>
* fixes so ```firmware-qcom-adreno-a530, * firmware-qcom-adreno-a530``` is
<barni2000[m]>
stk works like a charm on land
<hacker420[m]>
<barni2000[m]> "the gpu issues was caused by the..." <- which issues
<jojo_autoboy[m]>
preemption is also an issue with these socs too?
<jojo_autoboy[m]>
hmm though i guess it is the same gpu so makes sense
<jojo_autoboy[m]>
* it is about ]the same
<jojo_autoboy[m]>
* it is about the same
<barni2000[m]>
<jojo_autoboy[m]> "preemption is also an issue with..." <- it not soc dependent all a5xx is affected
<barni2000[m]>
* it is not soc
<barni2000[m]>
my issue is vladly's fix is picked for 6.12 but he said he think it is wrong
<hacker420[m]>
what issues does it cause?
<barni2000[m]>
gpu hang
<barni2000[m]>
that is why firmware-qcom-adreno was not fine for you because preemption enabled from the frimware
<hacker420[m]>
ah
<barni2000[m]>
i will update the branch soon with older fixes and wait for v2
<hacker420[m]>
anything that wasn't on your branch yet?
<barni2000[m]>
Preemption fix is missing
<hacker420[m]>
so it's a kernel fix?
<hacker420[m]>
using device fw worked for me
<barni2000[m]>
<hacker420[m]> "so it's a kernel fix?" <- yes
<barni2000[m]>
<hacker420[m]> "using device fw worked for me" <- because it is older fw with preemption disabled
<hacker420[m]>
ah
<hacker420[m]>
is there some perf difference?
<hacker420[m]>
or is it just a better practice
<barni2000[m]>
<hacker420[m]> "is there some perf difference?" <- ig no because there is no mesa support for it
<barni2000[m]>
on other soc preemption was disabled in the forks
<barni2000[m]>
btw i have updated the branch, i have modified the opp for 8937 added the preemption fix adjusted the panel drivers and i have uploaded xiaomi-land lot of features are enabled irled also works
<hacker420[m]>
cool
<hacker420[m]>
so what did you set the opp to in the end?
<hacker420[m]>
960 MHz?
<barni2000[m]>
higher
<barni2000[m]>
1.1
<hacker420[m]>
good
<hacker420[m]>
are the cedric panel drivers there too?
