<pakcjo> Hi, is there a setup/configuration guide or similar to get the best out of a Mali G52?
Lucretia has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<pakcjo> i'm trying to start weston with --use-gl and it fails with Broken pipe (failed to create display), without --use-gl it works, in the output I can see unhandled option: --use-gl
<CounterPillow> That's because that's not an option, see `man weston`.
<CounterPillow> The used --renderer is already autodetected, there is no reason to set it manually
<CounterPillow> If there was a magic configuration option to make things faster on Mali G52, I would assume it would be set by default and not hidden from the user as a little treat.

<pakcjo> oh nice, thanks CounterPillow
<pakcjo> is glmark2 supported?
<pakcjo> glmark2, glmark2-drm, glmark2-es2-drm and glmark2-es2-wayland and glmark2-wayland all fails with Could not initilize canvas
<CounterPillow> They are supported, yes. Are you sure 3d acceleration is working at all on your system?
<pakcjo> CounterPillow: that's what I'm not sure, i'd like to confirm that, weston logs says: GLSL version: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.20 and GL version: OpenGL ES 3.2 v1.g13p0-01eac0.0fd2effaec483a5f4c440d2ffa25eb7a

<pakcjo> EGL version: 1.4 Bifrost-"g13p0-01eac0"
<CounterPillow> Panfrost doesn't do GLES 3.2, so whatever you're running isn't Panfrost.
<daniels> yeah, that's the proprietary driver from Arm
<pakcjo> I have also EGL Wayland extension: no in the logs, the gpu is a Mali G52

<pakcjo> just noticed that I have drivers from rockchip installed
<CounterPillow> Are you even running a kernel that has the panfrost kernel module in it, or are you running a vendor BSP kernel?
<pakcjo> kernel 6.1.57, ubuntu 22.04, I'd try to install/test with ubuntu 24 without propietary drivers... Thanks for shedding light into my situation, I understand it way better now, greatly appreciated
<CounterPillow> If this is an RK3566 or RK3568, then mainline 6.1.57 should have everything needed (except potentially your device's device tree, but that might be passed from u-boot already). But that's assuming mainline, and not something thrown in by some yocto layer :P

<pakcjo> it's an RK3576
<daniels> RK3576 is still heavily WIP for mainline
