<flowriser> bamse: great progress so far! I was able to bring up everything on the acer spin 7 except video (still working on that), but was able to log in via ssh
<flowriser> I think the reason the video is not working is the dpu reset
<flowriser> I will keep banging on this tonight, but compared to a month ago this is some great progress

<flowriser> I just have to say I have allot more respect now for the linux maintainers, goddamn so many changes and such complicated patches

<bamse> steev: tested sc8180x-next-20220301 on my flex, and while display comes up on the primus it doesn't work on flex...
<bamse> steev: so if you see flowriser come back, please point him to https://github.com/andersson/kernel/commits/wip/sc8180x-next-20220301-take2

<steev> bamse: oh, good to know, i hadn't tested it myself
<bamse> we're still not able to output a full frame in time at 4k@60...need to work with Dmitry on this...

<steev> i can't even test that, i don't have anything that does 4k

<gwolf> I guess the display hardware is quite different from the C630's, right?
<gwolf> (or am I reading that we will soon have a video out? ;-) )
<gwolf> If it is a similar piece of hardware, I do have a 4K-capable monitor (although it's 4K@30Hz)

<bamse> gwolf: it's actually quite similar...but the usb-c story is quite different between the two platforms
<bamse> gwolf: and unfortunately we can only do 4k@30 on either one so far...but there's work ongoing in hope to resolve that
<bamse> gwolf: and out of curiousity i booted windows on my c630 last week and confirmed that it can drive a DP monitor at 4k@60...
<bamse> gwolf: there's been some progress, but my type-c plumbing patches has yet to be picked up by the maintainers...hopefully we'll get there after the merge window, so i can pile on some of the type-c controller stuff as well
<bamse> gwolf: and at that point it's worth reviving the attempts i made previously on c630...
<steev> heck yeah
<gwolf> bamse: Well, I thought I'd be having more urgency on getting it working. And I absolutely thank you all for the porting efforts. But as it is now, I managed to get an ah-sorta-working solution I'm happy to settle with :-]
<gwolf> But yes, I will be *much* happier once the support finally lands!

<derzahl> OFTC isnt allowing me to connect from tor anymore
<derzahl> So I can fork Steev's kernel repo and then easily pull in any upstream changes after the fork. But is there a way for me to them select kernel patches in other repos and apply them to my fork automatiically?
<derzahl> *then
<derzahl> could I even pull in upstream changes for those patches automatically somehow?
<derzahl> i have a PKGBUILD where I download the steev kernel and apply additional patches to it before building. But is it possible to use github for pulling in the patches?

<steev> i have no idea what you're asking, but it's all just git in the backend, so probably should be able to
