hi. is anybody online who knows (or might intuit) why grub boots on Snapdragon 850 ARM64 and SnapDragon 7c Kryo 468, but just one of them gets past "Graphical install" into a Linux Distro Installer? Or how to test whether the problem is in fact another hardware component, like the screen?

mescalin: grub uses EFI "drivers" from the preinstalled firmware and thus platform-agnostic but Linux uses it's own set of drivers. I'd guess that you tried that debian installer and to my knowledge, it doesn't support 7c boards. (afaiu It has a kernel, hacked to barely boot with acpi from the firmware so one can install the system with the DT for a specific board, as traditionally done for qcom devices in Linux)

mescalin: So, usually the kernel would need to have support for the platform (i.e. 7c) and the specific device you have, and then have it properly enabled so you can use it

i am seeing lots of these errors, and a black screen when attempting to upgrade my c630 yoga to v5.19
<ardb>
[drm:ti_sn_bridge_probe [ti_sn65dsi86]] *ERROR* failed to create panel bridge
<ardb>
anyone have any clues?
<qzed>
very broadly: I'd guess dp-aux-bus issues
<ardb>
i imagine enabling CONFIG_DRM_PANEL_EDP might help as well - lemme try that first :-)
<ardb>
ok that worked ...

what about audio - any c630 users here with working sound?
<steev>
ardb: for me audio worked with 5.19, but breaks in 6.0, but working again in -next
