Holy F are they still expensive
<albsen[m]>
<_[m]123> "you can't backorder from the..." <- did you check on aliexpress? which touchpad do u need?
<adamcstephens>
what's the status of the camera on the x13s? running jhovold's rc5, but apps aren't able to detect the camera
<_[m]123>
<albsen[m]> "did you check on aliexpress..." <- can't remember but it could be handled under warranty! I meant that they don't have a stock of these touchpads
<_[m]123>
since it's not advertised on their website as for sale
<jhovold>
adamcstephens: there's no camera support in my wip branches yet (see the wiki)
<albsen[m]>
_[m]123: the one i got was 25usd, up to you if thats worth waiting for
<adamcstephens>
ahh the wiki does indeed say only "started" for came4a
<_[m]123>
<albsen[m]> "the one i got was 25usd, up to..." <- I sent it with fedex already lol 😉
<albsen[m]>

i'm having major issues with a usb-c docking station (orico fax3-9p25r) on my x13s. mostly it's the HDMI that doesn't work when the docking station is hot plugged post-boot. it also happens that the eth port or a USB port doesn't work. a reboot usually fixes it but not always, and then i've got to go through a seemingly random sequence of reboots/shutdowns, or enter the firmware set up.
<steveej[m]>
i'm currently running 6.8.0-rc5 from jhovold's repo.

<_[m]123>
of it sticking out
<_[m]123>
or you'd need to whatever, 3d print a bottom cover?
<_[m]123>
that'd be neat, but would you keep the top row of buttons?
<_[m]123>
honestly mediocre touchpad is fine just give me those 3 buttons

of the touchpad? no idea
<_[m]123>
lol no for the touchscreen except scrolling seems useless
<jglathe_>
screen is 1920x1200
<_[m]123>
try to hit the close button in 1 movement 😄
<jglathe_>
give me enough alcohol i'll hit every time
<jglathe_>
can't complain. It's for the intuitive stuff, scrolling in firefox, some buttons
<jglathe_>
tabs

most of the time on the kb and mouse

let's see if it was a faulty touchpad or it really just sucks that bad lol
<jglathe_>
once changing the ssd to 1TB and applying new thermal paste to the cooling plate is enough
<jglathe_>
I would take bets
<jglathe_>
you get it back with a new touchpad and it feels the same
<jglathe_>
but I'm sorta optimistic its up to device specs
<_[m]123>
lol my thermal pad liquified

oof

pretty sure it was doa
<jglathe_>
hmm bad
<_[m]123>
probably just low grade thermal pad
<_[m]123>
so wait
<jglathe_>
yep
<_[m]123>
are your buttons of your tohcpad (the row above) responsive?
<_[m]123>
do you feel you have to hard press them at any point
<_[m]123>
like try dragging files around fuu
<jglathe_>
they are responsive, no hard press required, and work (the IBM way) even when touchpad is off

jenneron[m]: Hi, I have been pretty busy with other stuff but the weekend has started and my efforts in getting nvme is still in vain. After trying various kernels it seems that the PCIe host for pcie0 does not work properly. pcie1 has the wifi attached and works ok.
<janrinze>
jenneron[m]: Also did a request to get an account at postmarketos. So i might be able to aad some info in the web page of the google Dojo.

janrinze: nvme may lack some kernel configs. have you looked into it?
Guest699 has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<janrinze>
it is.
<janrinze>
jenneron[m]: Well, the kernel config of the chromeos kernel that runs on the nvme (has /dev/nvme0...) does not help. I have compared it with my kernel config and there is no significant difference.

jenneron[m]: I'm currently doing a test if it is possible to get the same kernel built that is running on the device. That will allow me to use the exact same kernel config. The kerenl on the device is version 5.10.199-23590-gee7d5cfb599d
<janrinze>
oops 'kernel'..
<jenneron[m]>
janrinze: nah, don't use that kernel
<jenneron[m]>
it is downstream
<jenneron[m]>
it may be easy to get audio working

we will know once i see dmesg from mainline
