chadmed_: how do you "test" for the kwin stuttering? just by "feel"? I test with resizing a glxgears window. that did improve, not quite stable 60fps but around 59fps which is a lot better than drops below 45fps I was seeing before. I should test with a native wayland app though

jannau: ahhhh that stutter no sorry disregard my report then, i was testing the page half-speed page flips
pb17 has joined #asahi-dev
<chadmed_>
yeah ok the resize stutter is almost completely gone, 58fps while resizing glxgears and nothing noticeable at all with native wayland windows

hmm, it isn't clear to me what problems you folks are seeing with the new u-boot boot flow stuff
nicolas17 has quit [Quit: power outage]
<jannau>
kettenis: SError + reset after exiting boot services, I haven't looked into it. maybe related to linux' EFI decompression
<kettenis>
that is indeed strange; what is the actual bootflow that gets selected?
<kettenis>
** Booting bootflow '<NULL>' with efi_mgr
<kettenis>
?
<jannau>
bootmeth_efi with the ESP partition from the usb storage

I expect it will but strnage that I can't reproduce this
<cy8aer>
ok, stay tuned again please
<jannau>
well, in most cases I can't run into this though since apple-sio is available so maybe not that surprising
<jannau>
I don't remember from your config if DRM_APPLE was a module or built-in but I think the issue would be also avoided if apple-sio is also built-in or available in the initramfs

The patch fails for me in drm/apple/audio.c but - are the two marcan-patches for audio still needed because I patched them in?

I am just cleaning up my build dir. Takes some time...
<jannau>
the speaker enablement patches are still needed but unrelated to this
<jannau>
strange that the patch fails. It is against asahi-6.8.8-1. can you apply it manually?
<cy8aer>
I will do it by hand but from a clean cloned linux repo (and that takes some time).

<jannau>
thanks, pushed to AsahiLinux/linux and tagged asahi-6.8.8-2
<cy8aer>
I have to thank you! 😉
