mac studio mini, probably 8 performance / 6 efficiency cores. I guess the the m4 max will stay at 12 performance cores and will gain 2 efficiency cores
<chaos_princess>
Annoying that they now differentiate the max on cpu too.

<jannau>
the 8k 120Hz display support on the m4 imac was just a typo. I wonder whether m4 pro/max will have DP2.0 / Thunderbolt 5 / USB 4 whatever support. That typo is easier to explain if some devices actually support it
<chadmed>
does tb5 add anything over tb4/usb4 other than requiring support for 3x 4k displays? i assume finally dp 2.0 at least?
<chadmed>
oh its dp 2.1 finally

<jannau>
doubled bandwidth and asymmetric bandwidth which is useful for driving high-res displays while supporting high-speed pheripherals, i.e. 80gbps unidirectional for a 8k display and leaving 40g bidirectional for a SSD

<sven>
so the m4 support tbt5?
<jannau>
called it. M4 Pro with 3 thunderbolt5 ports
<jannau>
apparently only the M4 Pro
<sven>
hrm
<jannau>
and DisplayPort 2.1
<jannau>
also only on the Pro
<jannau>
front ports are 10gb/s usb3 port. headphone jack went to the front since they ran out of space on the back

but height > 1U (2 inches)
<nicolas17>
how wide? can you put a bunch of them sideways in a 2U slot?
<jannau>
5 inches so it's 3U

added to Devices, we still didn't find the boardconfig (J-number) though
<jannau>
I'd guess j673 and 674s even though they chnaged the design so who knows

<jannau>
seems the mini was designed to be placed on the side. the power button is on the "bottom"
<nicolas17>
it's hard to tell from the pictures if the vent foot is tall enough to let you press the power button without having to lift the mac
<nicolas17>
seems it's J773 for both models, perhaps J773s for the M4 Pro and the s isn't included in my source
<jannau>
same case so j773 for both makes sense. compare max and ultra mac studio
