"-k must match a kernel in the kernels directory" is written in the "Getting the macOS development kernel and creating the kernelcache" section - should I just pick a random one?
<maxg_>
There is a readme provided by apple, which only says something about the kernel.development and the other unnumbered kernels, the wiki gives a numbered one as an example tho
<maxg_>
Ahhh okay, it corresponds to the codename, nevermind

I connected my macbook to my linux machine, when I turn it on till the bootselector I see a "Macbook Pro" device getting registered in dmesg, no serial, when trying to boot the m1n1 macOS nothing is connected, using a usb 2.0 A-C cable
<maxg_>
this looks like something totally else, like for the DFU mode things, it reports the serial number too, might it be the usb 2.0 cable?
<j`ey>
I think it might have to be connected to the back USB port
<maxg_>
on the linux host?

<j`ey>
no the mac
<maxg_>
I have a macbook
<maxg_>
there are no backports
<j`ey>
I meant top/back, furthest from the front, but that might not be it
<maxg_>
hmm okay will try all ports
<j`ey>
maxg_: so you dont get a /dev/ttyUSB or /dev/ttyACAM0 on the host?
<maxg_>
nope, and no dmesg reports, what is the state the macbook should be in? turned off completely?

<j`ey>
yup
<j`ey>
are you sure the cable has data?
<j`ey>
some cables are power only
<maxg_>
yea it does, will check once more to be sure
<maxg_>
well, it connects to the dfu mode thing, apart from that I just confirmed it works with my phone
<maxg_>
also one thing, when connecting the mac sometimes turns on
<maxg_>
when in some kind of bootselector/macOS enviroment, I get 2 bind() failures on cdc_ncm

https://github.com/AsahiLinux/macvdmtool here it says, 2.0 cables do not work, might be the case with A-C cables and a linux machine too, will buy a 3.0 cable and get back to this, except if someone has any other insights
