Hi there, is there an issue with the windows runner or is it busy?

daniels: hey, just out of curiosity, I checked on the google bill for this month. And since you added the new servers, we now have an (expected) increase in our bill
<bentiss>
daniels: probably something to keep an eye on
<daniels>
bentiss: our GCP bill has gone up because of the new runners? guess that makes sense with a cold cache
<__tim>
right, sorry. Not really clear to me how all these bits of infrastructure interact
<bentiss>
it's not quay, I just happen to push stuff to master, and the pipeline was not done yet, so the image was not on quay
<bentiss>
should be fixed now
<daniels>
cerbero should also be using a fixed SHA for the templates, not a moving ref
* bentiss
nods
<bentiss>
__tim: mind if I restart the jobs?
<__tim>
feel free, but I don't think it's needed (need to restart the job in the upstream pipeline)
<bentiss>
it shoudl re-propagate correctly
<__tim>
the upstream pipeline job is a script that started the cerbero pipeline and it failed, I don't think that will un-fail itself. When that script job gets restarted it creates a full new cerbero pipeline
<bentiss>
OK, well, feel free to cancel the pipeline then. The failing jobs passed, so you should be good
<__tim>
anyway, I will babysit it and retry later, thanks

yeah, windows is horribly oversubscribed at the moment, and the GSt jobs which run on them take ~forever
<daniels>
we’re trying to find more licenses to get more capacity but there’s internal processes to work through
<daniels>
__tim: itmt can Cerbero cache the deps?
<__tim>
I don't know about windows jobs being oversubscribed, in general I think it's fine. Something is up with the runner
<__tim>
and most gstreamer windows jobs finish in minutes
<daniels>
it’s definitely oversubscribed - all day I’ve seen Mesa jobs not get scheduled for >1h, but the Cerbero Windows ‘deps’ jobs take >1h to complete
<daniels>
the build jobs are quicker
<__tim>
yes, today there has been a problem, I've seen it too
<__tim>
but I don't think there is a general problem
<__tim>
Cerbero Windows deps jobs only run at the rare occasion when there has been a change in cerbero, they might take 1-3 hours or so
<__tim>
but that doesn't happen very often
<__tim>
and it's usually not a big problem
<daniels>
hmm, maybe it’s just been a big day for Cerbero updates then
<__tim>
macos runners have also been sluggish to schedule jobs
<__tim>
yeah I don't know what's up, there seem to be two cerbero MRs where the people might be testing their changes, but otherwise I don't see much going on. I wouldn't expect that to block the world
<__tim>
maybe it's just an unusual constellation where those jobs got scheduled at the same time and now they're blocking all the slots or something

<alatiera>
yea cerbero deps is what generated the cache the rest of the jobs use
<alatiera>
however if there are a couple pipeline before the deps job is finished and published its cache key, they all try to rebuild the missing cache
<alatiera>
which applies for forks too, so if you like pull and push right after a new commit its a cache mis
<alatiera>
miss*
<daniels>
mm, maybe that was it
<__tim>
but nothing was merged into cerbero main branch recently, so not sure that's it. More likely it's something going on on the runner or in some forked user repo
<__tim>
I can see two deps jobs for a pending MR though
