<tomeu> robclark: we aren't used a scheduled pipeline for perf jobs, they are manual and triggered after merge succeeds
<tomeu> bentiss: so the problem is that no pipelines have been created since a month ago because no jobs are created in scheduled pipelines?
MajorBiscuit has joined #freedesktop
<bentiss> tomeu: almost. The problem is that when gitlab tries to create a scheduled pipeline, there is an error because one job has a dep on another that is not in the scheduled pieline. And we have no logs or notification when that happens, just that the pipeline is not run
<bentiss> *not created even
<tomeu> ok, and where do you see that error?
<bentiss> that's the point, we don't see it :(
<bentiss> the only thing we see is that the scheduled pipeline is not created
Major_Biscuit has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<bentiss> so something happened on Aug 26
<bentiss> sigh, on Aug 26 bc2e1a3ed67fb4cca88229e547f6b95be05c4d5e -> disable freedreno farm... so that's earlier
<bentiss> alright, reverting just bc2e1a3ed67fb4cca88229e547f6b95be05c4d5e makes the scheduled pipeline happy
<tomeu> bentiss: but, how do you know that the problem is that one job depends on another that isn't being created?
<bentiss> tomeu: because that's what happened in the past, and the only reason a piplien would not be valid AFAICT
<tomeu> ok
<bentiss> should be easy enough to pinpoint now that I have a commit that touches the ci
<bentiss> tomeu: making progress: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/bentiss/mesa/-/commit/b7e7c873f367119bbac5e56948c97e0a3f9d7e34 is a partial revert and it is sufficient to make the schedule pipeline being created

<zmike> something going on with windows ci lately? seems like everything is timing out
<__tim> didn't see any problems in GStreamer other than that runners seem busy
ximion has quit []
<jenatali> Yeah, I think it's just not enough capacity
<jenatali> Is there a view to see what's queued/running on them?
<daniels> yes, but not one that you can use :P
<daniels> the best thing we could do would be to move dbus + cerbero (?!) + fontconfig off 19.09, so we can repurpose that runner up to 22.02 and double our capacity
<daniels> Windows is currently completely tied up by GStreamer
<daniels> 23/28 jobs that are currently waiting for a runner are Windows jobs, so that's definitely the low-hanging fruit :P
<daniels> (the rest aren't shared runners, they're hardware-specific Mesa jobs)
<jenatali> :(
<jenatali> Sounds like maybe GStreamer needs to cut down on how much they're running on those runners?
<daniels> it's split between pure GSt (few slow jobs) and gst-rs (many very fast jobs), so I think overall it's fine if we can deprecate 18.09
<daniels> alatiera: gst-ci is still using 1809 for its v13 windows image, is there any chance you can push that to 2022 please?
<jenatali> I'm curious what changed though, there used to be plenty of capacity on the 2022 runner
<__tim> this time of day is also quite busy I think
<__tim> daniels, what's this exactly? gst-ci is inactive (but I think some other projects use those images)
<daniels> jenatali: yeah, Friday European afternoon is always peak as everyone tries to slam in MRs before they go home
<__tim> and Canada/USA wake up
<__tim> I'll do a MR for fontconfig
<daniels> __tim: thanks!
<daniels> I've got dbus building now before I file an MR
<daniels> __tim: looks like cerbero's 1809 usage is from the 1.20 branch, so maybe the bump just needs to get backported
<__tim> ah, hrm, ok
<jenatali> Thanks for looking into it! :)
<__tim> our cerbero jobs in main also take a bit longer now because it's now building the rust plugins there as well
<daniels> 100% the worst thing about Windows is how many of your dependency downloads end up trying to pull from SourceForge
<daniels> jenatali: would the .net core team accept a patch to System.Net.WebClient to automatically retry for like a few minutes if it's pulling from SF?
<jenatali> daniels: I have no idea, you'd have to ask them :P my guess is no, but who knows
<jenatali> Which dependencies? Are you talking about container builds?
<daniels> jenatali: yeah, dbus container build just failed trying to pull something from SF, so I've retried but now I'm at the back of the queue
<__tim> SourceForge, good times, good times
<daniels> well, they're definitely times
<__tim> and now it's just timeouts
<__tim> ooc, do we have more licenses?
<daniels> __tim: yep, 3 more
<__tim> ok, let's see how things go with retiring the old stuff, but that runner is already doing both old and 2022, so it's not gonna double our capacity, but maybe at most add 25% more or so
<__tim> not sure what the split is right now
<daniels> __tim: ohhh I see, I didn't realise that was the case
<daniels> how is it managing that? I thought you had to match the container/host versions?
<__tim> two windows VMs
Leopold has joined #freedesktop
<daniels> __tim: right, so you could still increase parallelism, but not by 100%
<daniels> bentiss: thanks so much for fixing git-cache btw
<bentiss> daniels: I am almost done with the multi-part upload, and then that should be it to convert mesa to the new s3

<daniels> bentiss: awesome, we can convert mesa over pretty quickly
<zmike> have ANY MRs that require a windows job passed today?
<zmike> all the ones I'm subscribed to have failed
<daniels> yeah, they have
<daniels> it's kind of exacerbated by us all doing a bunch of Windows CI container rebuilds to fix the other projects so we can get more capacity
<daniels> unfortunately I failed at dbus, but I'll deal with that on Sun when everyone's doing better things than polling CI
