<anthqiu> Hi guys! Just checking-in here
<anthqiu> I am a long time OpenWRT user. My friend sent me a Redmi AX5400 Gaming [ https://techinfodepot.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Xiaomi_Redmi_AX5400_Gaming_Router_(RB04) ] but it is not supported by OpenWRT, so I'm trying to build a firmware for it.
<anthqiu> I just started following [Adding a new device] wiki and began exploring the codebase. I've got no experience in building and debugging ROMs for routers, so bear with me if I start asking dumb questions :)

<anthqiu> I’ve obtained SSH access to the MiWiFi stock firmware (which appears to be based on OpenWrt 18.06-SNAPSHOT), extracted its partition table, and decompiled the device tree into a .dts file.
<anthqiu> As I am still investigating the file, I would like to ask, are there any official standards or guidelines for how configuration entries should be organized within Device Tree files?
<anthqiu> When I compare this decompiled .dts with the device trees in our project for other routers using the same SoC, I’m seeing some structural differences.

<slh> anthqiu: that's all in the mainline kernel's documentation. be aware that the OEM DTS is not totally useless, but won't help you that much either, as it's written for an old kernel with tons of non-mainline and/or proprietary code, which uses different DTS stuff#

<anthqiu> slh: I see, thanks for the suggestion! So basically only use the config values but the DTS file itself needs complete rewrite

<anthqiu> Well the stock firmware is using linux 4.4, no wonder everything is different = =
