the real question is, will I hold out and wait for mainline kernel support to mature and CSF support in Panfrost, or will I cave and buy RK3588 just for the sake of the SMMUs?

robmur01: The userspace side of CSF is already mostly REd, so it maybe won't be long until you can use it with kbase at least...
