ChanServ changed the topic of #panfrost to: Panfrost - FLOSS Mali Midgard + Bifrost + Valhall - Logs https://oftc.irclog.whitequark.org/panfrost - I don't know anything about WSI. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

<hays>
people seem to be using the new driver with 5.10 kernels... how are they doing that?
<hays>
(vendor kernels)
<daniels>
hays: most of them I believe are not actually using the new upstream driver but an unsupported downstream forked version which uses Arm's kernel driver rather than the DRM one
<hays>
yeah i know about that--but i see bug reports
<daniels>
yeah, that downstream driver is not at all supported by us and never will be
<daniels>
but the good news is that the real one is under development :)
<daniels>
it's currently in bbrezillon's linux/mesa branches on gitlab.fd.o, but please beware that it is under _very_ heavy development, and as such bug reports aren't useful at this stage
<daniels>
fixes are definitely useful, but if you run into something that doesn't work, you can assume that it will be fixed as development proceeds
<hays>
daniels: do you know of a way to get the kernel driver working in the 5.10 vendor kernel?
<hays>
I think I would need to that to test and am very interested to do so as I am developer for a project that will use this and am currently on the mali drivers
<mntirc>
i don't think that's possible as there will be pancsf specific things in the kernel
<hays>
yes, in the kernel
<hays>
there is a kernel piece, mesa piece, and then the blob
