<steev> robclark: how well supported is the 306?
<macc24> steev: jesus thats one old soc
<steev> macc24: indeed
<macc24> steev: what do you want it for
<steev> but currently arguing with a guy who says that "And in mainline linux, the GPUs on qualcomm chipsets arent functional"
<macc24> lol
<steev> like, i know that ain't remotely true
<robclark> the db410c is pretty widely used, and a306 should be well supported
* robclark has a bunch of devices running upstream kernel that would beg to differ with the guy steev is arguing with
<macc24> tell him that freedreno is for adreno gpus
<macc24> if the guy doesn't get it by then stop caring

<hexdump0815> steev: the 410 seems to be in quite a few phones as well (moto g4 play etc.) and all those are supported very well by postmarketos with mainline kernel and freedreno
<hexdump0815> steev: the moto g4 play even comes with test points for a serial console :)
<macc24> i have a phone with msm8916

<bamse> steev: don't you have a aarch64-laptop running enough mainline to proove him wrong?
<macc24> bamse: is armv7-laptop counts?
<bamse> do we have one with decent upstream support?
<macc24> bamse: veyron
<macc24> it was my daily laptop before i got a krane
<robclark> I suppose bamse was referring to snapdragon..
<bamse> there's a "qualcomm" in the arguementation statement...so yes, but i appreciate learning more about the status of !snapdragon
<bamse> robclark: are you picking drm/msm patches during the merge windows?
<macc24> yea i can probably tell you something about rk3288, rk3399 and mt8183 laptops on mainline kernel
<robclark> bamse: *usually* just fixes, but depends
<bamse> robclark: okay, no worries...was just curious to your "process"
<bamse> or maybe you really have a process, so there's no quotation marks needed? ;)
<robclark> the process does to a large degree depend on when I get time to context switch from mesa to kernel
<robclark> fortunately I'm looking at drm/scheduler atm so better odds that I get around to looking at what is on patchworks sooner
