<alexVinarskis[m]> bryanodonoghue I tried to experiment with cameras on your branch, took Yoga Slim as starting point and tried to port it to Asus Zenbook A14 (also ov02c01). Im getting `clock enable failed: -110` for camss (https://bpa.st/L2BA).. any ideas where I could start looking?
<alexVinarskis[m]> Already compared all the regulators, only minor differences. Don't have this issue on XPS 9345, can't yet make that camera work either, but camss is up and sensor is detected.

<bryanodonoghue> works on the Dell* and CRD
<bryanodonoghue> there's an error about not finding the power rails for the CSIPHY I've been ignorning

<enyalios> i just updated my kernel from 6.13.0+ to 6.14.0+ both from steev's tree using johan_defconfig and accelerated video playback in both mplayer and mpv stopped working?
<enyalios> would anyone have any clue why? if i boot into the old kernel it works again, so its def the kernel thats the issue
srinik has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<steev> enyalios: what old kernel
<steev> mpv definitely shows VO: [gpu] here
<enyalios> 6.13.0+ is the old one
<enyalios> where vo gpu works
<enyalios> heres the diff of the configs https://bpa.st/DS4Q nothing stands out to me as having any effect on video acceleration
srinik has joined #aarch64-laptops
<enyalios> oh maybe the drm_client stuff?
<steev> i have those here
<enyalios> very strange, anything else i should check
<enyalios> the kernel is the only thing thats changing since i just reboot into one vs the other
<steev> let me paste my kernel config
<steev> https://dpaste.com/4ZAPYWD68 is my 6.14.1 kernel config
<enyalios> you dont have 6.14.1 pushed to github yet, do you?
<steev> i don't but i can, give me a sec
<steev> pushed
<enyalios> i can try that kernel and see if its any different
<enyalios> im currently using johan_defconfig, but i suppose i can try laptop_defconfig as well
<steev> laptop hasn't been modified in a long time
<steev> i would stick with johan
<steev> you could also compare your config to my config
<enyalios> oh okay
<enyalios> will do
<steev> if you run mpv on the command line, what does it show?
<steev> i'm able to reproduce it, but only if i ssh in and attempt to mpv the video where it fails to setup drm
<enyalios> lemme reboot and get the whole message
<enyalios> heres the output from mpv https://bpa.st/CAPA

<alexVinarskis[m]> bryanodonoghue: ah thanks, I misundestood then. I was under impression that on Yoga only sensor wouldn't probe, so thought that I got yet another issue. I now realized its the same one. By "not powering up the CSIPHY right" you mean the variaous combinations of vregs that were discussed above, or something else entirely? Either way, happy to be the test rabbit for ov02c10.

<steev> enyalios: that looks like a weird permissions issue; what is /dev/dri/card0 and renderD128 ?
<steev> permissions of them*
<robclark> if X11/dri2, the Xorg should hand back an fd for the client app to use
<robclark> or are you trying to run on "baremetal" (kms)?
bibikski has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<enyalios> crw-rw---- 1 root video 226, 0 Apr 8 14:28 /dev/dri/card0, crw-rw-rw- 1 root render 226, 128 Apr 8 14:28 /dev/dri/renderD128
<enyalios> im in both the video and render groups
<enyalios> im using xorg
<robclark> pastebin Xorg.0.log?
<robclark> looks like Xorg is trying to use swrast
<robclark> `dmesg | grep drm` ?
<steev> let me switch gnome to Xorg and see if i see the same
<steev> its working here on Xorg too :(
<enyalios> heres the dmesg output https://bpa.st/2EJA
<robclark> ok, here's the problem:
<enyalios> so that file exists, why isnt it loading
<enyalios> -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 15K Mar 25 00:29 /usr/lib/firmware/qcom/sc8280xp/LENOVO/21BX/qcdxkmsuc8280.mbn
<robclark> depending on the order of things, you might need it in initrd? But if Xorg starts after rootfs is mounted, it should not need to be in initrd. It was able to load the SQE and gmu fw
ypwn__ has joined #aarch64-laptops
<enyalios> Xorg is only started when i log in and run startx
<enyalios> that might be a red herring, i still have `[ 2.339045] adreno 3d00000.gpu: [drm:adreno_zap_shader_load [msm]] *ERROR* Unable to load qcom/sc8280xp/LENOVO/21BX/qcdxkmsuc8280.mbn
<enyalios> even when im using the old kernel while video accel works
ypwn_ has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<robclark> idk to what extent GPU is needed to render video.. GPU won't work w/out zap
<robclark> maybe you can get that error with zap if it is incorrectly signed (don't have the code in front of me atm)
<enyalios> here is the working Xorg log https://bpa.st/MPUA
<enyalios> and the working dmesg https://bpa.st/F6EQ
<enyalios> for comparision
<robclark> well, you probably should figure out why GPU isn't working regardless.. but at any rate it explains the errors on the player side as far as dri/drm
<robclark> if this is x13s, I thought Lenovo pushed all the fw upstream, so maybe double check zap md5sum vs what is in linux-firmware?
<enyalios> im pretty sure the gpu is working on the old kernel version
<steev> enyalios: fwiw, i have this initramfs-tools hook - https://paste.debian.net/hidden/f6a489d2/
<steev> pretty sure i nicked it from ubuntu
<enyalios> steev: what builds the initramfs then? i use dracut for mine
<enyalios> i have an include file for it with a couple of options
<steev> initramfs-tools :) dracut has something similar, i'm sure
<enyalios> ah
<steev> i'm guessing just throw the sqe and qcdxkmssuc in there too
<enyalios> huh, it doesnt look like there is a gentoo package for initramfs-tools
<enyalios> i can try that
<steev> maybe gmu too
<steev> i think it's a630 we use, maybe a660
<steev> a660
<steev> just looked at my dmesg
<robclark> at least as far as GPU/zap if you are startx'ing after logging in, initrd isn't the problem.. maybe there is some kconfig needed for loading zap, I'll have to check later
<robclark> (fwiw x13s has a690 but uses same SQE and I think gmu fw as a660)
<steev> yeah it does
<steev> i don't think we ever got a690, though we did extract it from the windows driver
<steev> and by we, i mean qzed did
<anthony25> I'm using some patches from this branch to get the iris video decode working on x1e: https://git.codelinaro.org/stefan.schmidt/linux/-/commits/abel-johan-x1e80100-6.12-rc7-dp-working-dell-xps-irisv5/?ref_type=heads
<anthony25> but I cannot find anything anywhere, does anyone know if it was sent upstream?
<anthony25> I'm also wondering what I need to do to also have this one working on x1e: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-arm-msm/20250408-iris-dec-hevc-vp9-v1-0-acd258778bd6@quicinc.com/#r
<anthony25> and I also don't know how it handles loading multiple firmwares for iris, at least av1 has its own binary
<steev> it might not support that yet

<robclark> enyalios: I double checked, you'd get a different error for signing problem.. so the issue is that the kernel can legit not find/read the zap fw. But it can for the sqe/gmu fw. So I guess that is your hint, figure out what the differences are. You might want to double check that /lib/firmware and /usr/lib/firmware are the same thing, perhaps?
