<nyaomixyz> chadmed: regarding the video I sent the other day, yes it looks damaged, BUT this behaviour is nowhere to be found on macOS and if I connect to 5ghz wifi it basically disappears.
<nyaomixyz> which is strange, why would a display problem be triggered by network activity over 2.4 ghz wifi?
<nyaomixyz> I even found a super reliable repro case: ping 1.1.1.1 over 2.4
<nyaomixyz> and still, this behaviour is nowhere to be found in macOS
<nyaomixyz> hardware quirkiness 101

<tpw_rules> i've heard of video screwing up 2.4ghz wifi, but not the other way around
<sven> huh, it’s especially weird since this doesn’t seem to happen on macos
<nyaomixyz> yeah. currently i am editing a 4k video on macos and pulling assets from the web on the same 2.4ghz network
<nyaomixyz> the macbook is hot and stressed, though no video artifacting or image going away
<nyaomixyz> i also pulled the terminal to do the ping test that would guarantee the image to go out on asahi.. nothing happened
<nyaomixyz> this happened right after i updated m1n1 stage 1 - probably i shouldn't have done that

<whereischadmed> hello
<whereischadmed> anybody here?
<opticron> yep
<whereischadmed> what distro are you using on m1? @opticron
iyes has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<opticron> debian, works pretty well
<whereischadmed> Have you encountered any issues with it?
<whereischadmed> Is this the installer you used?
<whereischadmed> I like Debian a lot.
<opticron> no, but I'm also not using it all that heavily. yes, that's the installer. More details about current status are avaialble here: https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Bananas
<opticron> I'm using the alternate kernel/mesa for more recent gpu support
<opticron> you can also join #debian-bananas since that's the official channel for the debian port

<whereisnathan> chadmed " dracut --kver $(make -C /usr/src/linux -s kernelrelease) --force "
<whereisnathan> this is the problematic command.
<whereisnathan> i have followed every other command to a T in this guide https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/User:Jared/Gentoo_On_An_M1_Mac
<whereisnathan> it cant find the kernel when trying to build initramds
<leio> whereisnathan: that is not the guide linked from https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Asahi
<whereisnathan> my problem is
<whereisnathan> i run dracut --kver $(make -C /usr/src/linux -s kernelrelease) --force
<whereisnathan> and i get
<whereisnathan> dracut[F]: Cannot find module directory /lib/modules/6.8.10-400.asahi.fc40.aarch64+16k/ dracut[F]: and --no-kernel was not specified
<whereisnathan> weird
<whereisnathan> i fixed it by adding --no-kernel
<whereisnathan> at the end

<chadmed_> whereisnathan: make -s kernelrelease should not give you the fedora version string
<chadmed_> that guide youve used is extremely wrong, please try again with the actual guide
