<j`ey>
is 'voltage_now' in macsmc-battery an indicator of the current power consumption?
<j`ey>
or maybe that's power_now? confusing
<jannau>
is the label wrong? I wouldn't expect a voltage to express power consumption
<j`ey>
I have no idea about this :D
<j`ey>
and power_now is a negative value
<tpw_rules>
it might go positive when charging
<j`ey>
looks like we don't have a counter for the PSTR key, which apparently is 'entire system's power consumption in W'
<j`ey>
ah maybe markan missed it because it's a float key
<j`ey>
well PSCI seems to work with the deep sleep mode (it was using normal wfi before)

<jannau>
nice, so that should give you 3.2GHz single core frequency
<j`ey>
I think for that, you need a special cpuidle driver? or there needs to be more of PSCI implemented, I only have CPU ON/OFF
<j`ey>
there is a CPU_SUSPEND, that might just do the same thing as CPU_OFF for us
<kettenis>
OpenBSD looks at both PDTR and PSTR which are interpreted as input power and system power
<kettenis>
those appear to balance fairly well when not running on battery
<jannau>
the last powered core on the cluster should run at 3.2GHz, not a practical solution yet
<kettenis>
j`ey: I believe you'll need to implement CPU_SUSPEND and add the idle state stuff from Documentation/devicetree/bindings/arm/idle-states.yaml in the device tree
<j`ey>
makes sense. Im doing this more as a proof of concept kinda thing, so may not get there, we'll see
<kettenis>
so does this mean you have the efi interface for this in u-boot implemented?
<j`ey>
terribly
<kettenis>
heh
<kettenis>
still useful to continue the discussion with ardb I suppose
<j`ey>
all u-boot does is create a configuration table and add some pages to the memory_map

I'm unsure if this is the proper channel, but I have created a PR to the Arch Linux ARM PKGBUILD folks to solve the jemalloc issue.
bisko has joined #asahi-dev
<diatrus>
Unsure if I should submit the fix to the asahi PKGBUILD first rather than going through them.
<Malina[m]>
diatrus: what repo is it in, `aur`, `community`, etc?
<diatrus>
I submitted to archlinuxarm's PKGBUILDs repo in the "extra" section
<diatrus>
Normally jemalloc is in extra iirc
<diatrus>
The fun thing with jemalloc is that it supports page sizes lower than what it is compiled with, just not higher. So compiling with a 64 KiB page size will allow 16 KiB and 4 KiB to both work properly as well.
<Malina[m]>
i do believe Asahi Linux wants things upstreamed so that should be fine
<Malina[m]>
though that does sound like a bug
<diatrus>
It's expected behavior for jemalloc currently. I can link you the discussion if you'd like
<Malina[m]>
sure
<Malina[m]>
if it's expected behaviour then it should be fine
<Malina[m]>
but yes submit the PR to upstream if possible

`asahi` repo stuff is if it can't be upstreamed to ALARM yet
