<chadmed> alyssa: when i wrote that sentence about the carried patches, i didnt expect we'd have _this_ much trouble upstreaming things. i think leaving it there while the patch count balloons is not only very funny but also a fine piece of protest art :P

<jannau> marcan: do we want to carry a patched kde powerdevil for the keyboard backlight?
<marcan> I think if it goes upstream we just wait, but I still need to test that it actually fixes it
<jannau> it works here and PKGBUILD is already done:
<jannau> change seems to be scheduled for 5.27 which is planned for 2023-02-14
<jannau> but probably ok to wait if the screen dimming is enabled by default

<marcan> yeah, I want this in by the time DCP is in the production kernel which will probably end up being around that timeframe. that's also when the default DPI scaling setting is getting fixed I think (right now it only does 100%/200%, both are usually bad on the laptops)

<zzywysm> sven: i DMed you 5 links to usb typec and displayport patches that might be helpful, did they make it through, or did the irc server block them because it looked like spam?
<alyssa> povik: a few dozen
<alyssa> as Dcow said all linux UAPI is downstream so we're just constantly rebasing that in
