<marcan>
I *knew* dumping the installer log into the EFI partition would be useful one day.
<marcan>
I should make asahi-diagnose also auto collect that
<marcan>
"I didn't enable expert mode" haha yes you did

if there's one thing I've learned from fielding bug reports, it's that users can't be trusted
<amarioguy>
sven: just a refresher, from what i saw in m1n1, for NVMe to work you need SART and ASC/RTKit stuff working
<amarioguy>
anything i missed?
<amarioguy>
just asking for a refresher*
<sven>
pretty much
<amarioguy>
perfect
<sven>
the nvme interface is ofc not standard nvme
<amarioguy>

marcan: can you downgrade a stun with the installer?
<j`ey>
stub
<jannau>
backup ESP contents except firmware, delete stub+ESP, do uefi only install, restore ESP backup
<marcan>
still need to fix /etc/fstab after that but basically yeah that

I should add an option to do it one day, but I'm not particularly inclined to until we actually support more than one firmware per machine and there are legitimate reasons to upgrade

one day I'll need to update my mini... it is still running the hack I put there 18 months ago, with 11.x stubs.

is there a particular branch on the asahi linux kernel github that the -edge kernel updates can be matched to?
<j`ey>
piroko: theyre the same branches as non-edge

Hello everyone, I just installed Asahi Linux on my M1 Air today and loved seeing Linux after so long. I wanted to ask if there's any way for me to contribute to the development of the project. I'm a software engineer (about 4yrs) but have never worked with lower level stuff. I do have some experience with Rust (networking) + was an avid arch user and I thought it'd be cool if there's a way I can contribute + learn Rust at the same time.
<thatdevsherry>
However, the project is so big so I don't really know if it's possible for me to try and develop in a certain area of the project. Any guidance is appreciated :)

i'm guessing marcan is asleep right now, but does anyone else know which u-boot branch he creates tags like asahi-v2022.10-1 from? my guess is asahi-releng
<kettenis>
yes, asahi-releng
<zzywysm>
thx
<kettenis>
but since the branches get rebased every so often, tags may get detached from their branches
<sven>
ugh, so looks like even the acio darts are only accessible when atcphy is up :/
