<slomo> bentiss: same problem with the image registry happens again :) e.g. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gst-plugins-rs/-/jobs/14186797
<daniels> slomo: kicked
<slomo> thanks :)

<kusma> Image registry issues here also, still seems to happen: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/freedesktop/planet.freedesktop.org/-/jobs/14188244
<bentiss> kusma: kicked once more then
<kusma> Failed again
<bentiss> kusma: that's a different error :) dial tcp: lookup quay.io on 8.8.8.8:53: no such host
<kusma> Yeah, didn't say it was the same issue
<slomo> also got that one now
<bentiss> kusma: https://status.quay.io/incidents/bt8yqm82069z -> "quay.io is down due to an DNS issue. Engineering is investigating."
<kusma> Why does quay show up in the logs at all?
<bentiss> works locally because my local dns cache kept the address, but both 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 returns no IP for quay
<bentiss> kusma: the image we use to build the other images is hosted on quay
<bentiss> that allows for other gitlab to pull it without adding registry egress for us
<kusma> Fair enough
<bentiss> seems good now, the DNS is populated

<bentiss> daniels: I guess we'll have to upgrade to 14.3.1 tomorrow morning -> https://about.gitlab.com/releases/2021/09/30/security-release-gitlab-14-3-1-released/
<bentiss> (for some reasons, the automated pipeline is failing, so there is no MR opened yet)
<bentiss> daniels: well, if you fancy doing it now I won't prevent you to do it :)
<daniels> ouch ...
<daniels> I can do it a bit later tonight

<ngcortes> is there an outage on the gitlab server?
<daniels> ngcortes: no, wfm
<ngcortes> word. thnks

<ngcortes> all of my fetches to fdo are failing with 'server certificate verification failed. CAfile: none CRLfile: none'
<ngcortes> our fetches to other git servers are working as intended

<daniels> ngcortes: you don't have something silly in /etc/hosts perhaps?
<daniels> ngcortes: do you know which IP you're fetching from?
<ngcortes> daniels, running host gitlab.freedesktop.org gives me 147.75.198.156
<ngcortes> and we're fetching over https so that should be the one
<daniels> yeah, that's the right IP and I can verify the cert just fine
<daniels> I'm going to assume the system you're running on has a reasonable and up-to-date root cert DB and also that you've run sntp at some point :P
<ngcortes> well we're able to fetch from other git servers just fine, so I'd say so
<daniels> do they have Let's Encrypt or non-LE certs?
<DragoonAethis> Let's Encrypt's old root cert expires today
<DragoonAethis> For example Ubuntu 14.04 might have issues with that (16.04+ has the new root cert in trust store)
<DragoonAethis> And it seems like more things are in for a fun ride: https://twitter.com/endrift/status/1443655612861059082
<ngcortes> followed along this article and that worked
