mupuf, FWIW, I don't recall the ssh hostname being in a gitlab banner. I recall that there was a banner with a link to some issue, which did not give the feeling of a must-read but just gory details for those who are really interested.
<pq>
oh, I still have that banner. Easy to overlook.
MrBonkers has joined #freedesktop
<mupuf>
pq: yeah, I guess the problem was that the banner did not look any.different from the previous ones, and did not stress that action was required
<pq>
I think it would have been better by starting from the most common user visible change.
<pq>
e.g. banner: "SSH URL has changed, use ssh.gitlab.freedesktop.org instead of gitlab.freedesktop.org. For other changes, see <link to the TL;DR>"
swatish21 has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<pq>
and that link should get straight to the TL;DR without scrolling to the end for a long comment in a long page.
<pq>
otherwise I think the communication has been absolutely excellent

ok, how's that then?
<__tim>
Shame that you can't link into one of the comment headlines in the middle, because now it just drops you into that mega-comment with lots of technical things that few people will know or care about :)
<daniels>
I've moved the tl;dr to the top, added a ~/.ssh/config snippet, and changed the link to just the raw issue

<karolherbst>
bentiss (or any other of the admins really): can we have a automated script which is deleting/closing all abuse reports against deleted accounts? They just remain in the list and nobody can do anything about them
<karolherbst>
or would there be a way to allow others to do it manually?
<whot>
karolherbst: iirc the only way this can be done is via the ruby console so we'd have to add this to the script we already have for deleting accounts etc.
<whot>
karolherbst: best to file an issue in freedesktop so it doesn't get lost
<karolherbst>
yeah.. I'm aware of the ruby console stuff, but I don't think I have access to that one.. atm reports 3439 and 2624 are stale
<karolherbst>
but yeah, I'll file an issue

<ngcortes>
qq: are the images run in gitlab CI publicly available?
<ngcortes>
daniels Intel has a inhouse C for mesa we use for Intel related patches, but it's prone to outages when build parameters change, etc. if we could use the gitlab CI generated images that might solve that problem for us

ngcortes: we have no problem with you pulling the images, as long as you put a registry proxy in place, so that you only pull genuinely new images, rather than pulling the same image every single time for every job
<ngcortes>
daniels Roger. thanks!
<daniels>
ngcortes: no problem, let me know if you have any more questions or if we can help any more

we're super happy to serve those images to you, but yeah, please don't DoS our poor servers, or accidentally give us a $10k bandwidth bill
