<jenneron[m]> hexdump0815: I have received spring, but it seems to have battery problem
<jenneron[m]> it doesn't turn on 98% of times, and 2% of times it prints that battery is charged to 1% and can't connect to wifi, so I can't go further than start screen
<jenneron[m]> now it says chrome os missing or damaged 🤔
<jenneron[m]> how to disable `ectool batterycutoff`?
<jenneron[m]> tried recovery image with crossystem command for booting from USB, but it results in recovery error
<jenneron[m]> switched to another board, chrome os boots, wifi works, but touchpad does not
<jenneron[m]> also, managed to boot linux with it, still no touchpad
<jenneron[m]> i would prefer to do something to battery, because if i flash u-boot on kpart on emmc and disconnect charger, i will lose developer mode and booting from usb
<jenneron[m]> third board: wifi and touchpad work, but battery is still 1%
<jenneron[m]> it sometimes shuts down because of battery
<jenneron[m]> I've spent a hour trying to build ectool on debian, but I will probably keep it as-is
<jenneron[m]> nevermind, battery started to charge, it probably was a too deep discharge
<jenneron[m]> I've built ectool in debian, but it's probably not needed
<jenneron[m]> ehh, battery is now only at 5-6%
<jenneron[m]> weird behavior
<jenneron[m]> i did a mainline installation with u-boot on eMMC, but it's too annoying to work with because of random shutdowns because of battery

<hexdump0815> jenneron[m]: happy to hear that it arrived ... yes the battery is strange: charges slow and drains ... best is to leave it charge overnight, then it should be fully useable
<hexdump0815> i think the board which was in it seems to support most hardware and my test with another showed that it did not change the battery issues
<hexdump0815> i was not really able to find out what the problem with the charging was - i also tried different power supplies, but all showed the same behaviour
<jenneron[m]> with first board wifi didn't work for me, with second touchpad, third seems to be good
<jenneron[m]> hexdump0815: have you considered that the problem may be in battery?
<hexdump0815> for me wifi was working with the builtin board ... btw. to get out of ectool batterycutoff one usually needs to connect the device to power and then it should come back, but i guess due to the long journey and the battery slowly draining it discharged deeply and needs some time to get fully back alive
<jenneron[m]> i've left it disabled for some time, it's now charged to 65%
<hexdump0815> did not think about that - iirc all the battery related /sys/power_supply things looked quite well and i think even the battery still had a high percentage of charge when fully charged - but could be that its the battery also
<hexdump0815> what do you mean by disabled? it charges well, just very slow ... also if you run the spring with higher load i think sometimes the power supply was not able to keep up and battery was used as well
<hexdump0815> i guess its either the charging circuity or the power supply - maybe you have another one to test as well (but mind the orientation of the jack)
<jenneron[m]> it should not be like that, battery is the only thing left which may cause issues
<jenneron[m]> i think the best would be to disconnect the battery and check whether it drains when it is disconnected
<hexdump0815> could be of course - never thought into this direction
<hexdump0815> that might also explain the slow draining
