ChanServ changed the topic of #linux-cros-arm to:
<ellyq> logan2611: interesting to see hayato with pci-e wifi
<ellyq> WeirdTreeThing[m]: you've got hayato, right?
<logan2611> Aa far as I know all asuradas are PCIe
<logan2611> It is neat though
<ellyq> storage is still emmc though, right?
<ellyq> i've seen some comits for MT8196 on gerrit, it will use UFS instead (about time)
<logan2611> Yeah, sadly
<ellyq> i hope they'll do what they did on Chromebooks starting with TigerLake
<ellyq> they ship M.2 UFS modules, if you flash modified coreboot from Matt, you can remove it and replace it with NVME SSD
<logan2611> I think cherry (MT8195) ships with an NVMe, but I could be mistaken
<ellyq> only some of them
<ellyq> I have cherry/tomato on my desk at work, it's eMMC
<ellyq> (which reminds me i need to buy a new audio codec for ninelore, as i sent the previous one flying across the lab thanks to crappy tweezers)
<logan2611> lol
<ellyq> i can look into that wifi issue tomorrow, not sure why it wouldn't work offhand
<logan2611> Me neither. The only time I can get it to work is under postmarketOS.
<WeirdTreeThing[m]> <ellyq> "WeirdTreeThing: you've got..." <- yes
<WeirdTreeThing[m]> not sure what that wifi error is about
<WeirdTreeThing[m]> the wifi on here is really weird
<WeirdTreeThing[m]> s/wifi/wireless/
<WeirdTreeThing[m]> wifi is pcie and bluetooth is uart
<logan2611> Indeed
<logan2611> I assume there's no USB going to the M.2 port
<logan2611> I've debated trying other adapters but I'm not sure what other adapters support that
<logan2611> Plus I didn't feel like fucking with the DT
<janrinze> ellyq: I had a Hikey970 with onboard UFS. That was quite a while ago. Disk performance was a lot better than SDcard or USB sticks. If they use a newer UFS standard it might be close to NVMe speeds.
<janrinze> ellyq: The HP-dojo cherry/tomato with NVMe can do >1GB/s over NVMe. I think it should go up to 2GB/s. It might be that the PCIe bus is not configured for those speeds yet in main-line. Not sure.
<janrinze> Are there gerrit boards already? (did see some info on Cortex-A720 being in the pipeline)

<macc24> i somehow completely forgot that this channel exists
<logan2611> lol
<macc24> i remember when there was like 10 people here lol
<logan2611> <logan2611> "I've debated trying other..." <- As it turns out, I don't have any other adapters spare anyways :(
<ellyq> logan2611: question, is ALARM using mainline, or collabora's tree?
<logan2611> I'm using mainline
<ellyq> then that's your problem :d
<logan2611> Hmm
<logan2611> Would it happen to be the driver for the PCIe controller
<ellyq> no idea, but(t) we're using Collabora's tree for pmOS
<logan2611> Yeah
<logan2611> I did try that with my defconfig but PCIe doesn't even enunmerate for some reason
<ellyq> copy kconfig from pmOS then :D
<logan2611> Yeah I should try that
<logan2611> Other than that though (and probably DP out, cant test atm sadly), mainline works great
<logan2611> When I get access to my stuff again I'll try swapping it out for another M.2 module, and if that doesn't work I'll try building Collabora's again
