Hi all, I found a bug in the wcd394x codec driver which seems to cause a pretty bad splat ("Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address ffffffc01a224000") when attempting to play audio with a certain mixer configuration, it makes AOSP reboot, but doesn't seem to on Linux. Steps to reproduce are here: https://p.calebs.dev/padyvakiny.md

<ndec>
calebccff: i passed it on to srini who is not here right now.
<calebccff>
ndec: cheers, I wasn't quite sure who to reach out to
<ndec>
audio == srini :)
<ndec>
calebccff: got this " ndec: I think linux-next should already have fix for this.. but I can check it once again" and asked srini to join too :)

<srinik>
calebccff: I sent out few audio fixes this week which are in next, can you give it a go and see if it fixes the issue you reported
pg12 has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<bamse>
srinik: speaking of audio issues, have you seen the issue where the adsp boots before slimbus registers for the notifications and thereby misses the fact that the audio pd is up?
<srinik>
bamse: I started testing on the laptop recently, Yes I have seen this randomly once is like few boots
<srinik>
bamse: but did not rootcause it yet.. now that you say that it could be because of missing pd notifications.. that is one possiblity
<bamse>
srinik: good that you've seen it...i've not seen it yet...only steev who keeps hitting all these crazy corner cases :)
<bamse>
i haven't found the time to look into it either...
<bamse>
srinik: where you able to take another look at the ucm stuff for c630?
<bamse>
srinik: for volume control i mean
<srinik>
bamse: Yes, I have some patches for c630 audio in general, which also includes ucm patches
<steev>
i look forward to those very much
<bamse>
that provides working volume control as well?
<srinik>
bamse: yes
<steev>
i would like audio to work again before my vacation
<bamse>
srinik: but how did volume control work before? afaict we only turned a single knob, why do we need to adjust volume on the two channels separately now?
<steev>
it didn't
<steev>
you either had 0% or 100%
<srinik>
steev: I saw your crash that bamse forwarded I discovered few bugs in dsp code for which I sent out patches
<srinik>
bamse: volume control now works on both channels
<bamse>
steev: before that we had working audio, with volume control
<calebccff>
srinik: unfortunately your patches didn't fix the issue
<srinik>
calebccff: thanks.. I give you some testing tomorrow with the sequences that you suggested.. and get back to you
<calebccff>
srinik: awesome, thanks a lot
<steev>
srinik: the ones listed abov?
<bamse>
srinik: are said patches out for review, or on their way out?
<srinik>
steev: and few more some of them are already in linux-next..
<srinik>
steev: i will share other patches hopefully tomorrow..
<steev>
sounds good, ever since pipewire came in, audio has just been a few pops here and there, so it would be nice to be able to watch some videos on my flight
<bamse>
steev: so you're not only hoping that srinik will give you audio, but that it will magically work with pipewire as well? ;)
<steev>
bamse: well if the driver is correct.... it should (according to the pipewire devs)
<steev>
i wouldn't even mind the blue screen if the audio worked lol
<steev>
for now i can still do aplay -D hw:0 audio/africa-toto.wav so, i'm happy
