I've never used --validate. I'll give it a try when I get a chance. Based on what robmur01 states, it sounds like this is not expected.

I would ignore glmark2 --validate.. I think all it validates is glmark2's incorrect expectations about gl(es)

50 -> 60 fps is 3.33ms/frame faster... 500 to 600 fps is 0.33ms/frame faster... (me just here thinking how little the differences are when you got 3 figures of fps)

bah, `meson configure` refuses to show me my config because it needs regenerating for a new version, but `meson setup --reconfigure` won't regenerate my config because it contains an option which is apparently now invalid...
