does panfrost on rk3288 require cma memory to be defined or is it fine with cma=0?
<urja>
no cma needed for panfrost afaik, rk3288 has MMU for the GPU (i'm not sure if some other block on the rk3288 might benefit tho... never thought about it)
<hexdump0815>
urja: thanks a lot - i was trying to run it with cma=0 and it seemed to run ok
<hexdump0815>
only if i put it under quite a bit of memory pressure with xorg/glamor and firefox with lots of tabs i'm getting a lot of those: https://pastebin.com/raw/PV5TaiWt
<hexdump0815>
this is v5.19.3 on a veyron rk3288 chromebook with 2gb ram and with zswap enabled plus the v13 mglru patches on top - so not sure if this is a panfrost problem or if it is coming from elsewhere
<urja>
yeah i've seen those for a long time
<urja>
got a "huh, that should not be possible" from someone a long time ago
<hexdump0815>
urja: nice to know that i'm not alone with them :)
<hexdump0815>
is panfrost actually useable with firefox on rk3288? - i'm getting close to having to disable panfrost to get a useable system ...
<urja>
Hm, the 2GB one might make it a bit tighter, but the 4GB model runs firefox okay (on archlinux arm, mesa as shipped by archlinux these days, kernel is a 5.15 LTS right now)
<urja>
and yeah XFCE for a desktop
<urja>
it has been running for 6 days without any of those now tho, but also i think i haven't been pushing it hard wrt. memory...
<urja>
(usually if those happen, some kind of graphical glitch also happens, and i reboot the thing soon after because the glitch annoys me...)
<hexdump0815>
urja: yes i guess 2gb does not make it better in my case - the system gets quite unuseable at some point this way - trying without panfrost now
<urja>
oh yeah last i tried firefox needs to be forced to enable the opengl whatever mode, the non-opengl fallback ran actually worse under panfrost than without panfrost...
<urja>
but i don't know if that has changed since i just have those in my firefox config :P
<urja>
layers.acceleration.force-enabled = true
<hexdump0815>
urja: thanks for that hint - will try that later as well then
