<hexdump0815> urja: layers.acceleration.force-enabled = true did not help - same alloc errors are happening with it

<hexdump0815> its quite funny that an old mali400 with lima seems to be less problematic with all that, but i guess its a completely different architecture and maybe also does not enable some features in firefox

<urja> I didn't mean to help with the dmesg spam, but to help with firefox
<urja> 's performance :P
<hexdump0815> urja: ah - ok :)

<hexdump0815> did some more experimentation and looks like its really better to leave panfrost off if using firefox on xorg/glamor on a rk3288 system with 2gb ram as otherwise the system gets unuseable at some point it seems

<hanetzer> question, I seem to recall panfrost being wayland-only (as far as the mesa side goes); is this still the case?
<HdkR> nope
<HdkR> Don't believe that was ever the case
<HdkR> I was using panfrost with i3 very early on, which is definitely not wayland based :)

<HdkR> The XDC 2018 demo was definitely using X11 as well
<HdkR> I think the i3 DE on the board got swapped out to tinywm or something

<hanetzer> I mean, did it actually do 3d accel in xorg tho?
<hanetzer> I swear this isn't a false memory D:
<HdkR> yes, the demos were running GL benchmarks
<HdkR> glmark2 I believe
<hanetzer> well then. guess I'll go have some booze and rewire my brain
<robclark> x11 accel was probably glamor, ie. no dedicated 2d accel block.. but that is pretty typical (or rather, nearly universal) these days
