ChanServ changed the topic of #panfrost to: Panfrost - FLOSS Mali Midgard + Bifrost + Valhall - Logs https://oftc.irclog.whitequark.org/panfrost - I don't know anything about WSI. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

<rah> is the Amlogic A311D2 (G52 MP8) supported?
<rah> will any G52 be supported regardless of the number of cores or does each model require explicit support?

<rah> alternatively, how can I determine for myself which chips are supported?

<alyssa> rah: all G52 should be supported
<alyssa> it's possible that due to minor hw revisions, if you're using an SoC that we've never heard of before, you might need to make a tiny (1 line) patch to Mesa to allowlist the GPU ID
<alyssa> but Amlogic is pretty normal so I imagine it works fine
<alyssa> well
<alyssa> as well as Mali-G52 works anywhere ...

<hays> Is Vulcan support something that is possible or planned for G610/Valhal?
<alyssa> Yes
<alyssa> Very possible and planned :-)
<alyssa> It'll be a while though
<hays> Yeah. Understand that. If I knew how to reverse a GPU I would offer my help. Right now hearing from Rockchip they only might give us Vulcan+DRM
Leopold_ has joined #panfrost
<HdkR> Vulkan and DRM, for all those applications that support that wacky setup :P

<alyssa> it's incredible to me that a group of hobbyists with no hw docs have put together a better linux desktop than huge numbers of well-funded engineering teams for these arm boards ...
<alyssa> helps to have good hw I guess
<alyssa> no amount of software works around bad hardware.
<alyssa> robclark: 6 years late but thank you for https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2017-February/145665.html :~)
<hays> Alyssa: it’s the managers. They don’t get paid to make it good . They get paid to add the check mark on the product page

<hays> And hell at this point they probably are keying into the fact they can get free labor from the community
<hays> Technical debt never gets paid. At least most places.
