I think we'll have to switch to 6.6 upstream off the Noble release.
<
tobhe[m]>
sure, not a huge problem imo
<
tobhe[m]>
we have done that before
<
john-cabaj[m]>
Jammy will go to 6.6 as well soon, but Mantic is a special case. We don't usually backport from LTS to intermediate releases
<
john-cabaj[m]>
Could make an exception, but it's not how things are usually done
<
tobhe[m]>
but using the jammy version on both shouldn't be a problem
<
tobhe[m]>
the worst that ever happened was the apparmor userns change which broke things
<
tobhe[m]>
but anything that works for jammy should also kind of work for mantic i think
<
john-cabaj[m]>
You'd need a "Mantic" version for the PPA to properly find the right package
<
john-cabaj[m]>
But it would effectively be the same thing
<
john-cabaj[m]>
The other concern is we'll probably have to EOL Jammy once Asahi upstream goes to something > 6.7
<
john-cabaj[m]>
In favor of Noble
<
tobhe[m]>
we just hope that we have noble then
<
john-cabaj[m]>
Right
<
john-cabaj[m]>
We just can't make guarantees of LTS like Ubuntu generic does
<
john-cabaj[m]>
Focal, Jammy and the like
<
john-cabaj[m]>
I don't see a way that it's feasible while keeping up with Asahi upstream
<
tobhe[m]>
yeah and our jammy is already very uhm special
<
john-cabaj[m]>
This hurts adding to the archive
<
tobhe[m]>
i am also looking into backporting wireplumber and pipewire for audio. I might just skip jammy though
