tried to install haiku but bios doesn't recognize the usb sitck. Even had UEFI off.

what graphics card do you have in the machine? in my experience it doesn't like newer Nvidia cards

I have GTX 970, and it just crashes for me when I try to boot, even with every safe option turned on

as for the USB, I would suggest writing it again, and check to make sure USB booting is on in the BIOS

actually, I said that wrong, bios does see the usb stick as non UFEI. I'll try your advice and see if any other legacy settings I missed in the bios

if it sees it as not UEFI, make sure CSM is on

scary thing is 99% everytime I boot into bios it heats up the cpu. my little research on that is some issues with newer videos cards

for some reason or another on the other laptop the USB stick won't boot correctly anymore (scrambled/shifter screen)

oh just remember something I read about usb and UEFI is the usb stick might need to have cache support... like a mini solid state drive. not like the 1st generation ones

I got haiku install via usb stick. I guess it was a bad dd setup or something, I used the etcher method and worked fine. Though currenlty after I updated the packeges I can't log back in. I will try again soon... and report back

well, the haiku usb install booted up in full resolution but after the install haiku's resolution wont let me get up passed 1024x768.

yeah, i think it's a UEFI issue as my bootlooder is on the USB stick, and booting with UEIF option give me the choice to select haiku on my partition
