ChanServ changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630)
<steev> hm
<steev> bamse: idk whats up but with latest torvalds, i'm just getting a boot loop on the c630
<bamse> steev: ugh, any idea what's going wrong?
<steev> not yet - gonna re-install and add earlycon and whatnot to get efifb showing up first
<steev> well that's kinda frustrating
<steev> oh that's even more infuriating lol
<steev> sorry that video is useless
<steev> let me see about uploading it to the youtubes
<steev> right around 29 seconds, the mmu stuf happens and then... nothing
<bamse> steev: btw, which "latest torvalds" are you referring to?
<bamse> v5.15-rc4? or some specific commit?
<steev> master as of 6 hours ago which is 5.15-rc4 still
<steev> qcom_scm is built in, so i can't see it being that change
<bamse> building it to test on sdm845 mtp right now...
<steev> should the armsmccc.h change have a { res } in the asmlinkage too?
<bamse> mtp booted fine...but not sure how much hardware is really enabled on it by default
<steev> gonna try without the backlight stuff just in case i screwed something up there
<steev> but it was definitely working yesterday, and even earlier today, when i was trying to play around with the venus stuff, but trying to move around in a video while using ffmpeg was causing a hard reboot
<bamse> steev: there's a patch from Dmitry "iommu: fix ARM_SMMU vs QCOM_SCM compilation" from earlier today on the list
<bamse> seems promising
<steev> ohhh
<steev> i didn't look at pwcli today
<steev> let me pull that in
<steev> though, that says compilation, it compiled fine here
<steev> still
<steev> lets see what happens
<bamse> yeah, it compiled fine, but it skipped the special qualcomm stuff in the smmu
<bamse> so it's expected to reboot
<steev> ahhh
<steev> dmitry is my hero then
<steev> yep, works with that patch
<steev> fwiw, here's what i'm testing with 5.15-rc4 https://github.com/steev/linux/commits/c630-5.15-rc4
<steev> i *thought* the msm fixes went in already, but i guess not
<bamse> steev: will you mention your success in a reply to Dmitry's patch?
<steev> si
<steev> i'm also trying to find your series for the pwm stuff, to send my t-b
<steev> i don't want to pick a random reply to the series and say t-b
<bamse> if only i had a touchpad today i could have copy-pasted the link
<bamse> need to figure out what's wrong there...
<steev> that doesn't help me find it in thunderbird
<steev> but thunderbird does say i replied, so maybe i already said it
<bamse> "evtest" and "libinput debug-gui" shows that there's events from the touchpad, but "libinput debug-events" does not show them
<steev> hit the touchpad button on the keyboard
<steev> f6
<bamse> that removed the input from "libinput debug-gui" as well
<steev> or fn+f6
<steev> oh hit it again
<bamse> :)
<steev> that brought it back for me
<bamse> i've tried that
<bamse> i thought it was an issue between libinput and wayland, so i restarted wayland, without succcess
<steev> oh, i did reply already :)
<bamse> nice
<bamse> and Robert pinged Uwe about an ack on patch 1...so let's see what comes out of it
<steev> i hope the rest of lmh makes it into 5.16
<steev> or are the sdm845 bits going in to 5.15 and just haven't been sent yet?
<bamse> steev: iirc the dts pieces aren't landing until v5.16
<bamse> hoping that the backlight stuff would land as well, because there's still time to squeeze in the dts pieces for that
<bamse> which would leave the tree i'm running here at just the battery driver
<steev> si, same
<steev> minus the massive amount of patches i'm testing that i haven't sent t-b for

<steev> oh
<steev> i'll try to find some time tomorrow to test if the camera wills tay on in windows
<HdkR> ...Why doesn't Ubuntu provide freedreno and turnip in their AArch64 packages? :|
<steev> debian doesn't either
<HdkR> That's messed up
<steev> i don't think anyone has requested they be enabled
<steev> turnip = freedreno vulkan yeah?
<HdkR> yea
<HdkR> Looks like you missed the GL driver though?
<steev> no, it's there already
<HdkR> `GALLIUM_DRIVERS += etnaviv kmsro lima panfrost tegra vc4 v3d` ?
<HdkR> Just above it then?
<HdkR> ah, weird split and wasn't visible in the latest commit
<steev> i wonder if i should actually move the vulkan driver up there too

<steev> derzahl: gwolf: i just pushed my latest 5.14 stuff, it includes a patch that should punt the blue screen for good
<steev> but i don't know if that will make it into the kernel itself or not, it may be a different fix is needed/better

<gwolf> Thanks, will look at it later!
<gwolf> TBH, I don
<gwolf> sorry
<gwolf> TBH, I don't turn off/on my computer often, so I haven't suffered much from it; I cannot even tell you how often it happens
<gwolf> (but any fixes are most welcome!)
