i have a minor tweak for the battery driver too, but it's not a huge deal to leave out (just adds depends on I2C in the Kconfig)

the hook could probably be made fancier to only run if you're installing/uninstalling a newer version of the kernel, but a) i don't feel like figuring that part out, b) it really doesn't take that long to run, not compared to say, the os-prober part of grub

bamse: do you know if there is any ffmpeg support for hw video *encoding*? And related question, what did you use to record your presentation? I'm looking at obs-studio which is what XDC organizers recommend.. which seems to use ffmpeg for encoding.
