steev: I have just taken out LMh patch set from laptops-5.13 branch. In the native deb-pkg build, it locks up machine completely.

shawnguo: i sent a mail to thara (and the mailing list) about lmh, hoping she replies, the driver is very nice
<steev>
shawnguo: oh nice, thanks for the pointer on the dtbs :D
<steev>
shawnguo: out of curiosity, do you see the rcg clk not getting updated in your 5.13?
<derzahl>
mattst88: no, encrypted/compressed zfs actually came in a hair faster than plain ext4. the 30%+ increase in compile speed was on zfs, using the lmh patch
<derzahl>
attaching a sata drive to udb? why wouldnt it work?

<mattst88>
oh yeah, I've done that kind of thing :)
<mattst88>
I installed Windows on an external drive like that just so I could update the thunderbolt firmware on a laptop dock :|
<macc24>
why does 5400rpm 2.5" hdd feel as fast as emmc
<robclark>
if you are talking about lazor, emmc is currently slower than it should be.. apparently iommu.strict=0 helps (but otoh you probably want modem/wifi to be strict, and setting iommu.strict on kernel cmdline changes the setting globally)
<macc24>
why would i want modem iommu to be strict
<robclark>
so some potential fw bug doesn't corrupt memory mostly
<macc24>
i like living on the edge
<robclark>
rough idea is that peripherals who's dma access is controlled by the kernel, it is safe to not use strict.. things where there is firmware involved in memory access, you probably want to be strict
<robclark>
it ofc depends on your threat model
<robclark>
for dev device which doesn't have my ssh/pgp keys, non-strict for everything is probably ok
<robclark>
I think there might have been also some iowait/boost tuning that also helped w/ emmc?
<macc24>
huh
