<clover[m]> steev: what version of mutter has your fix?
<steev> i don't know if there are any releases with it in there, but it's in master, and backported to 42 and 3.38
<steev> however, as noted by leezu, when using gnome, we *have* to use X11 in order for it to work, can't use wayland
<clover[m]> ive been using x11 anyway, feels snappier

<pierro78> <jenneron[m]> pierro78_: would be better to have an installation .iso which uses dtb for installer (since cpu lock up issue) and installs kernel package into target system => I agree with you but I don't really know how to build that iso ... maybe I would need to ask some advice/help somw

<ndec> jenneron[m]: I believe someone tried the x13s installer (which uses the dtb) on previous gen hardware and it worked. mani_s might remember if what is included in what was released

<pierro78> mani_s & ndec : is ironrobin.net (as seen on https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/w22mvg/arch_linux_arm_iso_on_x13s_wip/ ) a recommended place where I can get the archlinux iso installer for the x13s ?? is there a place with a debian installer maybe ??
<mani_s> pierro78, you can get the debian installer here: https://people.linaro.org/~manivannan.sadhasivam/lenovo_x13s/debian-11-arm64-DVD-6.iso
<mani_s> i'm not sure about archlinux

<steev> si, i do indeed live here
<steev> clover[m]: it wouldn't, because it doesn't have the dtb
<steev> for the x13s, yes it would work
<steev> pierro78: you'll want to use rufus to write the iso, unless that issue has been sorted and dd works?
<clover[m]> nice, i am staying at the drury inn on the riverwalk
<steev> oh nice
<steev> riverwalk is a decent enough area
<steev> i'm ~10-15 minutes from downtown
e1eph4nt has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<steev> which.. is where the riverwlak is
<clover[m]> idk about rufus, i always use balenaetcher
<clover[m]> which i think is just a fancy ui for dd

<steev> when i did the debian iso, it was recommended to use rufus, because otherwise the installation failed
<clover[m]> oh. im talking about arch iso. ive never used the x13s debian installer
<steev> yeah, i'm mentioning it because they asked about debian for the x13s :)
<clover[m]> Can x13s boot an .img flashed with dd?

<steev> the debian iso has the dtbloader stuff in it as the default efi app, which then chain loads grub iirc
<steev> jhovold: i take it you haven't had a chance to test out the dispcc stuff that bamse sent to the list? (noticing your 6.0-rc3 branch)

<pierro78> I used dd to a fat32 usb for debian ... no problem to get some kind of grub menu with installer options ... chose the graphical installation and then had a kernel panic (pictures above) ... maybe I ll try the archlinux installer with dd too ...
<pierro78> I kind of have some doubts now since it didn t work with debian ... but maybe the archlinux installer is more up to date ?
<pierro78> (debian was end of july I think)
<pierro78> steev : would you think I might not have the kernel panic if I use rufus instead of dd ?? (seems kind of weird to me as the installer seemed to boot ok)
<AlexMarty[m]> I’ve been gone a while what’s any updates on the x13s
<steev> pierro78: yeah, use rufus (you can do it on the x13s itself if you don't have another windows box)
<steev> pierro78: oh, wait, no, you are using it on the galaxybook s - that's not gonna work, we don't have the 8cx1 stuff in that kernel
<steev> i thought you meant you wanted to use it on an x13s

<robclark> who was it who had pics of the x13s opened up, was that you steev (and whoever it was mind repasting the link)?
<steev> hdkr
<robclark> ahh, HdkR mind repasting?
<steev> iirc they're discord links, so might be on the fex discord? or he posted them to his own
<HdkR> aye
<steev> ez
<steev> i am curious if the non-wwan versions have the antennas inside or no
<AlexMarty[m]> I might try to add more heat pipes to that. See if I can get better cooling on compiling and heavy work loads
<HdkR> There were some connections labeled WWAN with nothing running to them, so I would guess the antennas weren't in mine
<steev> i thought
<szclsya[m]> there isn't any sim slots on non-wwan chassis though, so I doubt if it will work
<steev> oh, it's the battery
<steev> szclsya[m]: esim iirc
<steev> so you would need a card that does esim
<szclsya[m]> yeah I believe there will be some special sauce to have esim
<robclark> interesting, *only* esim?
<bamse> no, i got a physical nanosim in mine
<robclark> nice
<davidebeatrici[m]> Two M.2 slots, nice.
<davidebeatrici[m]> I wonder what the four unused flat connectors are for.
<davidebeatrici[m]> One is labeled `LAN ID`, perhaps RJ45 connector support?
<HdkR> Sadly the second isn't NVMe keying, so you'll be sad trying to stick another drive in it
<steev> fwiw
<steev> lenovo usually has teardown videos on their site for repairs
<steev> though, they uh, usually are in 480p, because it's still the early 2000s, i guess

<steev> i... don't recall what firmware are needed for the gpu though :(
<steev> or if i even have them lying around here
<robclark> imx51 to 8cxG3.. that is a jump ;-)
<robclark> should be yamato
<robclark> ie. yamato_pm4.fw and yamato_pfp.fw
<steev> hm, i'll have to dig through all my old stuff
<steev> i still have the laptop i used as a dev at genesi around here somewhere, just haven't booted it up in a few years
<robclark> hmm, lumag pushed fw for leia (a22x).. he might have had yamato as well?
