ChanServ changed the topic of #aarch64-laptops to: Linux support for AArch64 Laptops (Asus NovaGo TP370QL - HP Envy x2 - Lenovo Mixx 630 - Lenovo Yoga C630)
<jenneron[m]> I'm not sure how I achieved that, but I had visual artifacts on screen in linux until I warm-rebooted from windows
<jenneron[m]> also, gpu performance seems to be different from boot to boot
<steev> fwiw, https://github.com/steev/linux/commits/sc8180x-next20220728 is what i'm running here on my sc8180x (flex5g), it has been fairly solid, but i know you need extra stuff. i need to revisit it at some point
<steev> maybe the memory regions could help

<hexdump0815> jenneron[m]: maybe my snapdragon 835 debian image from https://github.com/hexdump0815/imagebuilder/releases/tag/211204-01 might be a useable starting point for you to get a debian up on your galaxy book s?
<hexdump0815> jenneron[m]: you would have to replace the kernel, firmware, adjust the grub config etc. on it after writing the image to an usb stick, but it is a runnable debian - i'm using thoe images all the time for my systems

<jenneron[m]> pierro78: the latest file you sent doesn't include /boot/efi, can you send it separately?
<pierro78> 22:37 <pierro78____> jenneron : it didn t backup /boot/efi partition so here you go : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sY8q-Y08xJCBcngbN9n-nYmiC6JesIwj/view?usp=sharing
<pierro78> ;)
<pierro78> jenneron : will you need root passwd ? if yes give me your email maybe :)
<jenneron[m]> jenneron@protonmail.com
<jenneron[m]> thanks
<pierro78> jenneron : I sent you the passwd ...

<derzahl> does anyone know how to get past the msm errors compiling the latest 5.19 steev kernel?
<derzahl> drivers/gpu/drm/msm/disp/dpu1/dpu_hw_catalog.c:1747:10: error: initializer element is not a compile-time constant
<robclark> which branch is that? I guess steev has some patches that I don't have
<steev> should just be linux-5.19.y
<steev> i'd have thought the ci bot would screech at me if i didn't have it correct
<robclark> hmm, that file+line# on that branch.. doesn't make sense for the compiler to be complaining about that.. so not sure I'm looking at the same thing as derzahl
<steev> i'm not sure either, i thought the same
<steev> and apparently i forgot to plug my c630 in last night
<derzahl> when i googled it steev actually came up. think its a message from the ci bot you mentioned
<derzahl> its for an earlier 5.19rc
<derzahl> but exact same errors im getting
<derzahl> robclark: you have a different 5.19 branch that youve compiled with clang?
<robclark> I use gcc for kernel.. we might be using clang for CrOS kernel builds, not sure about that offhand
<steev> ah, i don't do clang
<steev> i'll have to check if lumag posted newer versions of that patchset
<steev> oh, wtf
<steev> that's not from anything i apply
<derzahl> not sure if it only an issue with clang, but thats what i use typically
<steev> derzahl: would you mind cloning a vanilla 5.19 and see if you see the same issue? because that commit isn't from any of my patches
<szclsya[m]> I did have tons of problem with clang when building kernel for the x13s
<steev> i haven't tried clang stuff in a long time with the kernel, mostly because i've never gotten it to successfully cross build
<szclsya[m]> clang cross building is actually easier according to my experience (as it integrates the linker I believe)
<szclsya[m]> but although it builds without error it just won't run properly. maybe some of the platform code uses gcc extensions?
<derzahl> sure i will try
<derzahl> clang is usually pretty smooth for me. clang+LTO is more problematic
<derzahl> what doesnt the vanilla kernel have at this point for the c630?
pierro78 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<steev> the battery and dp driver
<steev> there are other niceties, but not really required
<clover[m]> x13s new BIOS release already:
<clover[m]> [Important]
<clover[m]> - Updated thermal table for temperature issue
<steev> interesting
<steev> hm, actually i need to poke at the 5.19 stuff apparently, since something is broken
<steev> mdss is deferred
