<aceridus> hexdump0815: I haven't looked at the galaxy book go again in a while because I am not really sure where to go with troubleshooting the touchpad. At one point it was getting probe errors on dmesg so it felt like I was close. Are you seeing hid over i2c probe errors for the touchpad device on your current image?
<gwolf> steev: I haven't done any thorough tests... but so far, my audio is still just "clicks" :-(
<steev> same :(
<gwolf> (I just installed the newer alsa-ucm-conf file and rebooted with the 5.19.0-next-20220810 kernel that enables video out)
<gwolf> Haven't tried with 6.0 yet
<steev> and -next isn't booting for me on sdm850 either
<steev> hm, i thought i had a 5.19 that had vidya out
<steev> and should have audio too
<gwolf> right, I prefer not to risk losing time getting back to a bootable state at this particular point of year :-(
<steev> understandable
<steev> it would be nice if (and maybe we can and i just don't know it) it would be possible to pass kversion to the grub config
<steev> i'd love to add a grub_entry_thingie "devicetree /usr/lib/linux-image-$kver/qcom/sdm85-lenovo-yoga-c630.dtb" so i didn't have to manually type it when i swap around kernels
<steev> i know ubuntu has that patchset, but i dunno what the upstreaming status of it is... xnox?
<gwolf> right, as currently it's necessary to give the dtb manually
<gwolf> and it's not a hard thing to do, you just have to remember to do it
<steev> i usually give it manually for a kernel i'm testing, and leave the working one installed
<gwolf> ...or grumble and fumble around and reboot a couple of times
<steev> yeah, ive had to grumble and fumble a few times to due to typos :D
<gwolf> I'm very good at making typos!
<steev> well the keyboard in grub is kinda wonky
<steev> it's not uncommon for me to have it say /usr/libibib/linux-imagegege-6.1.0-rc7/qcom/sdm85-lenovo-yoga-c630.dtb
<gwolf> Right. But it kinda-works for the right kind of users... It would be beautiful to be able to recommend this kind of machines to _regular_ people
<gwolf> yup... not very often, but I've been there as well...
<steev> if i type... like my brothers, i don't run into it ;)
<gwolf> point for tech-un-savvyness...
<steev> fwiw, the thinkpad doesn't have the issue
<steev> not trying to convince you to upgrade, the c630 is still my goto when the thinkpad isn't cutting it
<gwolf> Well, if you get me a X13S for the price I paid for the C630, I'm willing to switch
<gwolf> but I won't be happy carrying around carelessly such an expensive piece of hardware...
<selmer443[m]> Is there any official support for the X13s yet ? I’ve seen linaros Debian image and ironrobins work, but both seem to be missing sound and a couple other features
<gwolf> Official, nope
<gwolf> There's a group of hackers that have gone quite far getting it in a good working shape
<gwolf> but it still has its issues
<gwolf> (like mostly everything in ARM-land ☹)
<steev> what do you consider official support
<steev> and yes, features are still in the bringup stage
<steev> we're somewhat close on audio
<selmer443[m]> I guess official support doesn’t matter as much, but by official I mean a distribution providing an iso for it. Fedora plans to support in fedora 38? For example. That’s good to hear progress is being made, I’m running Debian on it rn but hoping to switch to arch when audio and (hopefully) gpu is working as well.

<steev> once the kernel support is in place, you can run whatever you like, it's being worked on, more testing is always welcomed to get things moving
<selmer443[m]> If there’s any testing that needs to be done I’m of course willing. I’m not well versed in kernel development/hacking but I’ll do my best

<gwolf> selmer443[m]: I've been sitting in this channel and slowly learning stuff since steev sold me a used C630 over a year ago
<gwolf> It's been one of my best purchases so far.
<gwolf> not only that, it even had a nice set of stickers! ;-)
<HdkR> A free stickerbomb is hard to come by

<srinik> steev: Could you try after removing the old /var/lib/alsa/asound.state and also I pushed a wip patch for soundwire in same branch could you try that as well with this am able to get both speakers and headset working with -rc7 branch
<srinik> steev: am running Debian bookworm/sid desktop, and am not hitting the issues that you are reporting .. what is your setup like?

<srinik> steev: dont worry about CMD timeout 1001021, you will see this for every boot, as we are trying to check if AudioReach is ready or not, so the first attempt will most proabably result in timeout all the time.
<srinik> steev: regarding the GPR port not registered, on AudioReach ports are allocated dynamically so in cases where port is closed and there is some response from dsp for that port then we would see such errors. they are harmless.

<steev> srinik: same thing with the patch applied, and asound.state moved out of the way - my setup is debian testing based (kali) - or more specifically, i can play a few sounds, and then it goes to that staticy noise as soon as i pull up the audio settings in gnome
<steev> srinik: sometimes i get this on a fresh boot (before running any commands) - https://paste.debian.net/hidden/9a6fc637
<steev> pipewire stuff is version 0.3.60-2, wireplumber is 0.4.12-1+b1; i think i might see a minor issue - i have alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.7.2-1 but alsa-utils is still only 1.2.7-1
<steev> actually, pipewire 0.3.61-1 just came in as an update
<steev> that didn't help either
<steev> i can try pulling in 1.2.8 alsa-utils, which is what is in sid
init2 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<steev> srinik: fwiw this is the asound.state that i get http://sprunge.us/OlvU59
<steev> srinik: and the one change from your setup, is a symlink with the name of our thinkpads, so ln -s ../../Qualcomm/sc8280xp/SC8280XP-LENOVO-X13S.conf LENOVO-21BXX0015US-ThinkPadX13sGen1.conf
<steev> oh, no, it's working now - i upgraded to alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.8 and added your patches on top (and cleared out my alsa/ucm2 folder first)
<steev> no, i lied
<steev> i was able to watch a video past 40 seconds, and thought cool it's working, closed the video, ran canberra-gtk-play -i message-new-instant and it pinged and then did the static and now nothing again
<steev> this is the dmesg output from somewhat working -> not working
<steev> at least it didnt' spam the crap out like usual
<steev> and the asound.state file from almost working is https://paste.debian.net/hidden/df7f2460
<srinik> thanks steev, I will keep testing and see if I can reproduce these issues.. so far unable to reproduce with, what I usually test is open chrome browser and play youtube and then from soundsetting I select the desired output device..
<steev> i normally have a login sound enabled, but for some reason it's reporting that the file doesn't exist (even though it does) - that is the case with the c630 and how i notice audio not working (oddly, the same sound there does not have the same error and i need to look at what i might ahve installed there that i don't on the thinkpad)

<init> some new parch on -asm-msm for SC8280 today
<init> for DRM
<init> johan's dma coherency also made it
<steev> ah, the v4's of it
<steev> that's for ufs though, which the thinkpad doesn't use, afaik

<steev> iirc, mine is a 15US not 16US
<steev> maybe different display?
<steev> DMI: LENOVO 21BX0015US/21BX0015US, BIOS N3HET74W (1.46 ) 10/12/2022
<init> the 21BX0015US is the 16GB one with the touch screen. 21BX0016US is 32gb with touch. 21BX0008US is 16GB + wwan 5g + 1TB, 21BX0008US is is 16GB + wwan 5g + 512gb, 21BXCTO1WWCA1 is the non touch, 8gb.
<steev> clover[m]: ^^ add to the wiki?
<init> 21BX0007US -> wwan+512gb.
<init> sorry for the typo
<init> "part number"
<steev> so the BY is just pre-prod
<init> possibly
<init> and now you all know I didn't get the wwan.. What a shame...
<init> haha
<steev> i didn't get wwan either
<steev> i'm pretty sure i didn't even get the one i actually ordered because they initially sent me an entirely different one, and then this one showed up a month later
