steev: zap is for getting out of secure mode, gmu is the power/icc controller thing, and sqe is the thing that handles the cmdstream and sequencing of the gpu
<robclark>
zap is not needed on chromebooks but needed for everything else (just to get out of secure mode when we powerup the gpu)
<steev>
ah, okay, so way outside my skillset :D

Does anyone have any idea how MediaTek's vdec/video decoder works? m2m_copy specifically?
<steev>
if they're like the c630 and galaxybook2, should just be a .bin file somewhere in the windows folder... on windows
<robclark>
Dylanger: (I'm very defn not a media/vidc expert, but AFAIU) it uses v4l2, but stateless mode (whereas qcom is v4l2 stateful mode)
<robclark>
(any more detail than that, and I'm the wrong person to ask ;-))
<Dylanger>
That's for that, I'll let everyone know if I get it working 👍
