For those with nothed macbooks: I just tested jannau 's information for using the notch space via "apple_dcp.show_notch=1". I tried it some days ago with debian testing and gnome 4.3. And it fits really good into the setup. Though it goes into the desktop area by two or three pixels (that is the border part of the Windows) I now use it by default. You can get the clock to the right hand side via sur clock...
