<marcan>
arnd_: do you want DT additions (new machines / instantiating drivers already in the tree) sent in as fixes for 5.16, or for 5.17?
<arnd_>
marcan: we only add new machines for the next release, so v5.17
<marcan>
ack
<marcan>
I'll send you proper DT fixes for 5.16 and new stuff for 5.17 then
<arnd_>
dt fixes are usually for stuff that caused a regression or that was clearly wrong (e.g. incorrect numbers). We sometimes add missing devices in early bugfixes as well, but only if there is a good reason and it's still early during the cycle.
<kettenis>
the pcie PERST# polarity fix falls into that category I think
<sven>
the wrong i2c compatible as well imho
<marcan>
arnd_: yeah, we hadsome bad compatibles, missing interrupt-ranges, and a bad node name
<marcan>
those all qualify as fixes IMO
<arnd_>
right
<maz>
arnd_: did you spot that email about picking one of the DT changes for PCIe? the PCI folks are scared of it. or of you. either way, it'd be good to know how to take that into 5.16.
<maz>
(duh, that's what kettenis was saying... 4 lines above)
<kettenis>
in a roundabout way...
<marcan>
grr, thunderbird is *really* trolling me... it seems to be breaking threading when I archive stuff, causing much confusion
* marcan
wonders what email client the cool kids use these days
<j_ey>
mutt? :P
<maz>
Wanderlust.
<j_ey>
maz: an album by Frank Turner. wrong Frank!
<maz>
j_ey: can't always win! :D
<Emantor>
Huh, I should try wanderlust.
* Emantor
currently uses evolution and it hurts.
<maz>
Emantor: it's an acquired taste, but if you like spending most of your life in Emacs, it can fit the bill.
<Emantor>
I already do, so it sounds good to me.
<maz>
Gnus is the other possible choice, but it is slow as hell.
<j_ey>
I download the mbox from lore.kernel.org, that's easy if you have low volume, might not scale
<leah2>
gnus with local imap is acceptable
<leah2>
but gnus can also poke lore directly so ;)
<maz>
now, the really cool kids use notmuch and whatever front-end works for them.
<arnd_>
maz: ah, I missed that thread, thanks for pointing it out. Replied by email now.
<maz>
arnd_: thanks.
<marcan>
just realized I didn't get CCed on the PERST series, heh
<maz>
marcan: ah, sorry about that.
