invisbaka: m3 support is not yet at the point to think about os images. A good start is creating a separate macos installation and start experimenting with m1n1 there. look at https://github.com/AsahiLinux/docs/wiki/SW%3AHypervisor for a rough guide (macos 12.3/13.5 will obviously not work, I'd recommend macos 14.x)

interesting missing points is the timer behaviour of sysregs s3_1_c15_c1_5, s3_4_c15_c14_5, s3_4_c15_c14_6 (ACNTRDIR_*). they are responsible for timer scaling between the HW count with 24 MHz frequency and the ARMv8.6 counter frequency of 1 GHz

macos writes 0x3 to them but that doesn't seem to effect the HV timers

for linux we want the 1 GHz timer but for macos compatibility we have to get the HV timers to work as expected
