<lina> The firmware does a lot of things, like handle preemption, IRQs, and recovery, so it would be a lot of work to reverse engineer all that and implement it on the bare hardware
<lina> And it probably saves power too, since doing those things on a dedicated coprocessor is probably a lot more efficient than waking up the main cores for them
