austriancoder: flto: hi, do I still need/want to enable etnaviv support in libdrm build (-Detnaviv=true) ?
<Marex>
I think not, since its now superseded by the mesa part ?
<austriancoder>
Marex: it's part of mesa for some time
<Marex>
austriancoder: I know, but libdrm still contains the etnaviv/ directory and it could still be built
<Marex>
austriancoder: but I presume I just want to disable that, right ?
<austriancoder>
Marex: it's will be in libdrm for backward compatibility
<Marex>
austriancoder: since I build my own userspace, I probably don't care about that ?
<Marex>
austriancoder: also, I have a feeling that code is already getting out of sync with mesa
<austriancoder>
Marex: jup.. disable it
<Marex>
austriancoder: thank you :)
<Marex>
austriancoder: would it at least make sense to keep backporting / synchronizing that code with mesa ?
<austriancoder>
Marex: if there are some serious fixes the it makes sense to land them.. but not a full sync.. as it would not allow us to break the API of the internal mesa copy
<Marex>
austriancoder: the softpin interface for example ?
<Marex>
but thats not a serious fix, or a fix at all
<austriancoder>
Marex: correct and you need a recent mesa for it
<Marex>
austriancoder: that hashtable to track BOs might be useful ?
<Marex>
austriancoder: btw I noticed libdrm in a backtrace from etnaviv, so I was pondering what it was doing there
<Marex>
so I wonder whether that doesn't somehow trigger some problems
<Marex>
but I'll keep looking, at least I know I can disable etnaviv support in libdrm, thanks for clarifying

austriancoder: similar question from me. I was unaware that the option was obsolete and Gentoo still (conditionally) enables it, should I be changing that? does it do any harm? what mesa version is new enough?
