<apritzel>
does anyone know what's the point of changing or adjusting a PMIC's DCDC frequency? Is that a trade-off between power-saving (using a lower freq) and smoother voltage/less ripples with higher frequencies?

nice, thanks!

OK lesson learned. Dont update your gentoo setup while you are on break :|
<DarkNeutrino>
GCC did not like that update
<DarkNeutrino>
Its compiling finally
<apritzel>
DarkNeutrino: compiler your userland? :-D

<apritzel>
btw, I just checked and there is a fixed, but customisable RTC LDO in the other PMICs as well, for instance the AXP803
<DarkNeutrino>
apritzel: Well on gentoo nearly everything is compiled on host machine. Just that Mr martin the host owner didnt update some gcc dependencies and GCC was like "No. Segfault"
<apritzel>
yeah, I know, "still compiling ..." was already a Gentoo meme before the term "meme" became popular
<DarkNeutrino>
Yea :)
<DarkNeutrino>
Does the latest today -next master compile ?
<apritzel>
works for me, do you see any problems?
<DarkNeutrino>
So far so good. Next from 10th didnt build

apritzel: So it boots just fine. And seems to work just fine as well. The kernel starts throwing out kernel panic but thats due to my uboot RAM setup. So from my side it looks good. Tho we should probably get junari to test it as well on their board and see if it behaves there as well :)

<apritzel>
yeah, but more tests reports can happen on the list
<apritzel>
thanks for checking!
<apritzel>
do you reference the RTCLDO in your DT?
<apritzel>
I mean via a separate fixed regulator? I guess not?
<DarkNeutrino>
Nope.
<DarkNeutrino>
The only fixed regs i have here are USB ones
<apritzel>
I see, makes sense
<apritzel>
I saw that the other AXPs with a "fixed" RTCLDO also fix a voltage, not sure we can do that
<apritzel>
but maybe we can leave that voltage uninitialised, and set it in the DT (despite it being a fixed regulator)
<apritzel>
I saw this being done in the other DTs, even though the voltage is additionally set in the driver
<apritzel>
DarkNeutrino: argh, BIQU doesn't seem to ship a BSP image with an Allwinner boot0, do they?
<apritzel>
I wanted to harvest the DRAM delay settings from there ...
<DarkNeutrino>
afaik no.
<DarkNeutrino>
They only provide OS images
<DarkNeutrino>
But those are weird
<apritzel>
well, they ship U-Boot in there, but it's mainline based
