But, does reading the register as 16 bits read the 16MSB or 16LSB?
<iscle>
Because the datasheet specifies the bits that get accessed as the 16MSB

<apritzel>
typically it's the LSBs, given a little endian bus?
<iscle>
Unless I'm missing something, it must be the MSB because the driver works (without DMA, for now) and the datasheet specifies MSBs and the driver is using 16 bits only... https://i.ibb.co/PT0xf9J/image.png
<iscle>
I guess it's better to not ask any questions and focus on what's important for now. Let's just pretend it's working by magic xD
<apritzel>
are you reading register offset + 2, by any chance?

<iscle>
Oh! You're right, it's offsetting it by 2 every time. That explains it! I completely missed that one haha

<gamiee>
iscle: can you please send me link to that V85X Carplay adapter? I found only the one with V83X
<gamiee>
And yeah, one of the people asking for USB Gadget was me, exactly for this reason (Carplay / Android Auto support)
<gamiee>
Sadly, too many tasks on my plate, so I need to prioritize :(

gamiee: Yes, the carplay one. The aa one should be the same but without the apple auth ic and different firmware.
<gamiee>
iscle : oh it does have mfi chip? I saw V83X one which didn't had the mfi chip, so I guess key and stuff is in the firmware :D
<gamiee>
I might buy that when I will be free.

gamiee: All CarPlay ones have the mfi ic, unless somebody's been able to extract the PK from one, I highly doubt there are ones without it. Maybe some headunits do not verify the phone (adapter) to be certified and it can be skipped, but I doubt it. All the ones I bought have the IC on it.
<iscle>
It also has v853/v851s according to the id returned by fel
<iscle>
I haven't opened it up or dumped the firmware because I want to keep it nice and clean for later use with the custom firmware. It has a convenient hole with a button to boot into fel mode
<gamiee>
That tiny chip is MFI? lol okay, so it's there
<gamiee>
Sorry, I don't know much about carplay. Mostly reversed Android Auto.
<iscle>
haha I still have to reverse most of carplay too, I created an android apk that simulates an android headunit just to learn about android auto. The plan was to convert this dongle into a wired carplay to wireless android auto for some cars with carplay but without aa
<gamiee>
iscle : if you will need help, let me know, I have quite a lot of experience about AA
<iscle>
But then I found the A133 "AI" dongle that runs full android for almost the same price that does this already. I recommend you checking it out. I sent the link yesterday
