<jojo_autoboy[m]> oh dang suspend works now?
<jojo_autoboy[m]> what was wrong with it before?
<Danct12[m]> this year must be very exciting for msm8937
<jojo_autoboy[m]> i never expected it to get even near this level of support lol
<jojo_autoboy[m]> i just assumed it would be doomed like the 8956
<Danct12[m]> i like how it started because i stumbled upon affenull's tree and started to play with it until it boots on my redmi 4x lol
<jojo_autoboy[m]> heck suspend working would put it in a better state then the 8916
<Danct12[m]> didn't think it would get this much support because no one ever looked to it
<Danct12[m]> the platform is about 10 years old now i'd say
<Danct12[m]> and we just mainlined for about a year or two
<jojo_autoboy[m]> it just needed some attention like most things with mainline
chenxuecong[m] has left #msm8937-mainline [#msm8937-mainline]
<ValPackett[m]> yeah we're very close to having basically Everything supported
<ValPackett[m]> venus still doesn't work
<FieryFlames[m]> All this discussion makes me want to carry on w/ my msm8917 tablet. am I right to believe there's not the usual freedreno issues like on other platforms?
<ValPackett[m]> didn't get around to GPS yet but e.g. I personally don't have the modem fully running as I have a carrier locked phone lmao (gotta get a sim of that carrier now ig)
<ValPackett[m]> FieryFlames[m]: which issues?
<FieryFlames[m]> lots of glitches, text not rendering, that stuff
<ValPackett[m]> there are some graphical glitches in firefox webrender
<ValPackett[m]> i guess i should look into debugging those xD
<ValPackett[m]> but webkit is kiiiinda better on these ancient devices anyway
<ValPackett[m]> it likes to freeze sometimes :/
<FieryFlames[m]> but none that make it quite unusable like on msm8953?
<ValPackett[m]> the issues are probably the same, it's just that something was recently-ish fixed in mesa to make it way less horrible (IIUC)
<FieryFlames[m]> I thought I heard they were fixed but when I last tried it on msm8953 it was still a glitchfest
<ValPackett[m]> "just don't use firefox on this lol" i guess
<ValPackett[m]> rly gotta investigate why webkit hangs sometimes tho..
<FieryFlames[m]> I'm not really talking about firefox
<ValPackett[m]> outside of firefox there weren't any glitches anywhere
<FieryFlames[m]> ah that's nice
<ValPackett[m]> well, OpenMW is quite glitchy https://social.treehouse.systems/@valpackett/113861786232213065 but lol
<FieryFlames[m]> yea, on msm8953 and other adreno5xx low end gpus there's graphical glitches all over
<FieryFlames[m]> I thought I'd heard they were fixed
<FieryFlames[m]> ValPackett[m]: hm, is that Phosh on systemd?
<ValPackett[m]> FieryFlames[m]: yes (don't do it yet tho) (how did you recognize systemd??)
<semf[m]> phosh has working systemd now?
<FieryFlames[m]> ValPackett[m]: I don't, I ran into Phosh not starting on systemd a bit ago and saw you discussing it xd
<FieryFlames[m]> how'd you get it working
<ValPackett[m]> i kind of applied some missing service fixes like https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/6044 manually
<ValPackett[m]> and that's been awful, it often just keeps Not Starting typically until it just does for some reason :D
<ValPackett[m]> but now there is a new actual fix which is to actually use tinydm on systemd
<ValPackett[m]> <jojo_autoboy[m]> "oh dang suspend works now?..." <- > <@jojo_autoboy:matrix.org> oh dang suspend works now?
<ValPackett[m]> > what was wrong with it before?
<ValPackett[m]> btw, the only thing missing for suspend was https://github.com/msm8953-mainline/linux/commit/085f50214689d6fe3d47eb1b4dbd9514fec51bdd that psci quirk
<ValPackett[m]> and then the actual states on 8917 at least
<barni2000[m]> <jojo_autoboy[m]> "i never expected it to get..." <- why 8956 doomed?
<barni2000[m]> <FieryFlames[m]> "yea, on msm8953 and other adreno..." <- the highest a5xx gpus also had the same issues but it was fixed now, now only gnome is unusable and 0ad have some glitch
<barni2000[m]> all issue comes from mesa
<barni2000[m]> venus also works on 8917 but it is not on tree yet
<M0xCAFEBABE[m]> <barni2000[m]> "the highest a5xx gpus also had..." <- uh so... workarounds aren't needed anymore?
<barni2000[m]> no
<FieryFlames[m]> I'm not near a linux device rn, trying to apply the Phosh fix to the prebuilt but it's proving PITA
<FieryFlames[m]> can't get the sub partition mounted from within twrp
<semf[m]> FieryFlames[m]: not even with CLI?
<FieryFlames[m]> I have no clue which commands to use, the ones initramfs uses aren't a thing in twrp
<ValPackett[m]> oh heh we've had recovery discussions here before
<FieryFlames[m]> I'm all ears on how to mount the pmOS_root subpart of userdata from within twrp
<FieryFlames[m]> I just want Phosh ☹️
<barni2000[m]> you need kpartx for mount pmos partitions
<barni2000[m]> phosh have issues atm with systemd
<FieryFlames[m]> I know
<FieryFlames[m]> nvm I'm accepting defeat, to plasma I go
<FieryFlames[m]> oh woah, yeah no visual glitches. this is awesome
<FieryFlames[m]> I should try to add more to moto-ali and mainline my moto-payton and moto-beckham at some point
<FieryFlames[m]> The keyboard is the only real bug I've run into. Quite impressed
<ValPackett[m]> which are payton and beckham?
<FieryFlames[m]> Payton is moto x4 (sdm630), beckham is moto z3 play (sdm636)
<FieryFlames[m]> sdm660-mainline looks quite good I just haven't gotten round to messing with them
<semf[m]> what packages are needed for modem

<barni2000[m]> for ugg -> ipa driver
<semf[m]> barni2000[m]: what's ipa
<barni2000[m]> It is needed for data
<fish4terrisa[m]> i'm currently trying to port kupfer linux to xiaomi note 5a(xiaomi-ugg) ,and the pkgbuilds are here: https://github.com/fish4terrisa-MSDSM/kupfer-pkgbuilds-xiaomi-ugglite (ignore the ugglite, I got the code name wrong at first). However, I cannot get the kernel to boot, only got black screen. btw kupfer is not using boot-deploy, but instead follows old trends and uses lk2nd. Does anyone know how to fix, or at least know how
<fish4terrisa[m]> to get logs?
<barni2000[m]> i think you can made your ports on based msm8953 MR
<fish4terrisa[m]> <barni2000[m]> "i think you can made your..." <- I think I'm doing nearly the same? You can get my pkgbuilds under my repo's device, linux and firmware folders.(They're only drafts now)

<barni2000[m]> i have not check 8917 lately only 8937 and 8940 i don't have rcu issues
<barni2000[m]> right_front[m]: fix is on the 6.13 branch
<barni2000[m]> with next update i will do the same fix for 8937 and 8940 and i will enable suspend in the config
<barni2000[m]> qcom-msm89x7:~$ dmesg | grep PSCI

<right_front[m]> barni2000: have you tried postmarketOS cli using openvfd to display cpu usage or bandwitdh?
<barni2000[m]> no
<barni2000[m]> i need to get and original display for ugglite [ 1.502202] Goodix-TS 1-005d: ID , version: 0000 this is so annoying aftermarket displays are garbage :( at least for ugglite
<barni2000[m]> i have checked before interrupt is working fine it is reporting the touches but the reported values are garbage with the mainline driver

<fish4terrisa[m]> does anyone know much about lk2nd? If I put extlinux.conf in one of android partitions and get the device boot into lk2nd(with simple fastboot boot), then will it parse it and boot as the content?
<jojo_autoboy[m]> <barni2000[m]> "> <@jojo_autoboy:matrix.org> i..." <- well doesn't seem very popular
