<tobhe[m]> koubas good news from the fedora asahi room: Linux kernel 6.13.8-400.asahi is now available which should fix microphones on M2 Pro/Max Macbook Pros
<tobhe[m]> will take us a while to build and publish but as I predicted it will hopefully work soon :)
<tobhe[m]> but actually that seems to be in sync with our current kernel
<tobhe[m]> so the issue must be elsewhere
kaazoo has joined #ubuntu-asahi
<kaazoo> Hi, thanks for the kernel update to 6.13.0-1002-asahi-arm. Works for me so far.
<kaazoo> Had to comment out "-Werror=sign-compare" in the Makefile to work around type errors.
<tobhe[m]> @kaazoo mesa build for noble is also in the mesa ppa and worked. need to build the other releases but I hope to publish it in the next few days
<tobhe[m]> only change to your PR was that I bumped the meson version in d/control to 1.4.0 but that doesn't really change anything other than error out earlier
<kaazoo> OK, so we can close https://github.com/UbuntuAsahi/mesa/pull/4 ?
<kaazoo> Sorry, I didn't have enough time to follow up on that.
<tobhe[m]> I think it will auto close if I push the changes
<tobhe[m]> probably
<tobhe[m]> no worries, i've been pretty busy with the plucky release too ๐Ÿ™‚
<tobhe[m]> any help is appreciated
<tobhe[m]> I'm glad you did the bulk of the work
<kaazoo> Can you please try to update libkrun & muvm? I wasn't able to do that. libkrun still gave me errors during building the source package
<kaazoo> What about the other packages that are required for noble: spirv-headers, spirv-tools, wayland-protocols, wayland
<kaazoo> Can we copy them into the Ubuntu Asahi PPA?
<tobhe[m]> yes, we can do that
<tobhe[m]> I can have a look at libkrun and muvm
<tobhe[m]> for the mesa stuff I'll just sync everything from kisak
<kaazoo> I'll try to update libxshmfence to 1.3.3. It includes a commit from Asahi Lina, that libkrun* or muvm might expect: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/lib/libxshmfence/-/commit/3aaf46a2742d1698f3a4399b2bb2f855c0b904fe
<kaazoo> Ah, no. We had that commit already in the 1.3.2 package
<kaazoo> The existing muvm version is failing on new kernel: https://paste.debian.net/1366487/
<kaazoo> I guess we need a newer libkrunfw and build libkrun against it.
<kaazoo> When I manually build libkrun 1.10.1 and replace the existing /lib/libkrun.so.1, then muvm works again.
<koubas> tobhe[m]: awesome news!
<tobhe[m]> published new alsa-ucm-conf-asahi. Usually takes ~30 minutes to become available as an update, after that and a reboot it hopefully works
<tobhe[m]> > 1.3.3 fails tests on amd64
<tobhe[m]> huh i wonder what that is about. maybe just a bug in the test itself
<tobhe[m]> should be available now
<kaazoo> Yes, I just installed the updates.
<tobhe[m]> kaazoo mic working?
kaazoo1 has joined #ubuntu-asahi
<kaazoo1> nope, no mic is listed, even after restarting pipewire & pipewire-pulse
<kaazoo1> I use a M2 Pro 14". Did you mention that a kernel update would be needed still?
kaazoo has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
<koubas> also no mic, but I have a new error in dmesg: iio_aop_als iio_aop_als.1.auto: ALS Calibration not found, will not enable it
<tobhe[m]> i initially thought we'd be missing a kernel update but I think we already had the changes just released in fedora
<tobhe[m]> oh indeed there are bug reports in fedora asahi with the same dmesg error
<kaazoo1> yes, I have the same error message
kaazoo1 is now known as kaazoo
<kaazoo> btw, linux-tools-asahi-arm still can't be installed on 20.04:
<kaazoo> linux-asahi-arm-tools-6.13.0-1002 : Depends: libpython3.13 (>= 3.13.0~rc3) but it is not installable
<kaazoo> I meant 24.04
<tobhe[m]> john-cabaj: Vinicius Peixoto I think to fix this we would need to actually build the kernel twice
<kaazoo> Seems like I managed to build libkrun somehow: https://launchpad.net/~kaazoo/+archive/ubuntu/ubuntu-asahi-gaming/+build/30599280
<tobhe[m]> nice! ๐Ÿ™‚
<john-cabaj[m]> <tobhe[m]> "john-cabaj: Vinicius Peixoto I..." <- Yep, pretty sure. Whatโ€™s the priority on this [kaazoo](https://matrix.to/#/@_oftc_kaazoo:matrix.org)? Iโ€˜ve not heard anyone else needing the tools of yet.
